Key Features & Benefits
The Kobelco BME800HD is a purpose-built 80 metric ton crawler crane developed primarily for foundation work and heavy-duty lifting applications. At its core, it utilizes a Hino P11C-UN engine, a 10.52-liter turbocharged diesel powerplant that delivers 247 kW (331 hp) at 2,000 rpm and 1,300 Nm of torque at 1,500 rpm, meeting both NRMM (EU Stage IIIA) and US EPA Tier III emission regulations. The engine powers a robust hydraulic system made up of three variable displacement piston pumps with a max pressure of 31.9 MPa, ensuring fluid control across all main operations.
The crane offers an impressive maximum lifting capacity of 80 tons at a 3.6-meter radius using a standard lattice boom configuration. The main boom spans from 12.2 m up to 54.9 m, composed of modular pin-connected high-tensile steel inserts. Lifting versatility is further extended with clamshell and hammer grab attachments:
- Clamshell configuration: Up to 24.4 m boom length and 7.5-ton max lifting at 16 m radius
- Hammer grab configuration: Up to 21.3 m boom length and 11-ton max lifting at 16 m radius
The BME800HD features dual winches, each capable of up to 196 kN (20 tf) line pull and line speeds from 3 to 120 m/min, ideal for high-cycle foundation tasks. The boom hoist drum, mounted with an 18 mm wire rope in 12-part reeving, ensures secure and stable boom control. Hoist drums include oil-cooled wet-type positive and negative brakes for precise operation.
Crawler performance includes hydraulic propulsion with independent drive per track, enabling both skid and counter-rotation steering. The track shoes are 800 mm wide, giving a ground pressure of 97 kPa, and the maximum travel speed is 1.9 km/h, with gradeability up to 30%.
The crane has an operator-focused full-vision cab, equipped with air conditioning, ergonomic seats, LCD multi-display, load moment indicator, over-hoist prevention systems, and a comprehensive array of mechanical and electrical safety devices. The machine also includes self-assembly counterweight capabilities, with 25.7 tons of upper counterweight and 6.7 tons of carbody weight.
The total operating weight is approximately 81 tons, and transport weight is optimized at 45 tons for easier logistics. Its combination of lifting capacity, boom length, and powerful winching makes the BME800HD a leading machine for deep foundation and material handling in demanding job sites.
