Key Features & Benefits
The Link-Belt HT-200 hydraulic truck crane is a compact, jobsite-focused machine offering a 20-ton (18 metric ton) lifting capacity. Designed for versatility and durability, it features a three-section telescopic power boom constructed from high-tensile alloy steel. The boom can extend from a minimum length of 27 feet to a maximum of 75 feet (8.2 m to 22.8 m). An optional 18-foot boom extension can be added, along with a 22’10” self-storing jib, which increases the crane’s operational flexibility and reach. All boom sections operate via double-acting hydraulic cylinders, with extend/retract sequencing managed through an internal locking pawl and valve-controlled hydraulic circuit.
The load handling system uses a hydraulic gear motor paired with a spur gear FMC speed reducer, which also functions interchangeably with the crane’s swing system. The wire rope drum features a 12″ pitch diameter and 18½” width, splined to a shaft mounted on anti-friction bearings. It has a four-layer capacity of 516 feet of ½” Type “N” wire rope. The maximum single-line pull is 7,840 lbs at 242 f.p.m., reducing to 6,270 lbs at 303 f.p.m. on the fourth layer. A two-shoe, spring-applied brake automatically engages during stops and is hydraulically released during operation. The entire hoist circuit is equipped with a holding valve to prevent accidental lowering of the load and allows smooth, controlled descent of overhauling loads.
The crane’s carrier is a 6×4 drive platform measuring 8 feet in width and built from a welded box-section frame. It rides on Rockwell FL-901 front and SLHD rear axles, featuring a 6.167:1 rear reduction ratio and bronze bushed bogies with torque rods. The suspension includes a 10-leaf front spring setup and semi-elliptical rear leaf springs, with all axles equipped with Maxi-type air parking and service brakes. The tires include 15.00 x 22.5H on the front and 10.00 x 20F military tread on the rear, mounted on cast spoke wheels.
The engine is a GM6V-53N 6-cylinder diesel producing 202 horsepower at 2,800 rpm, with 446 ft-lbs of torque at 1,500 rpm. This powers all crane functions through a Fuller RT-610 10-speed main transmission and a Fuller #2A-92 2-speed auxiliary, giving it a wide range of travel speeds from 1.37 mph in low creep mode up to 47.3 mph (76.1 km/h) in top gear. All travel speeds are based on full engine load at 2,500 rpm. The engine also drives a 12 cfm air compressor for the brake system and other air-actuated controls.
The crane’s upper structure includes an all-welded revolving frame, in-line bored for shaft precision, and mounted on a ball bearing swing gear with 96-tooth gear and a 38.4-inch nominal pitch diameter. Swing is powered hydraulically through a gear-type motor, a spur gear reducer, and a manually controlled swing brake. The swing lock is a pawl-type mechanism, manually engaged, and the swing speed is 3.0 rpm.
A single-operator offset cab is fully enclosed, with full instrumentation including oil and air pressure, ammeter, tachometer, throttle, and push-button start. The operator’s environment includes a Bostrom T-bar seat, vinyl upholstery, and auxiliary equipment such as fans, defrosters, wipers, and fire extinguisher.
The hydraulic system includes a tandem gear pump providing 89 g.p.m. at 2,200 psi, segmented into circuits for boomhoist, wire rope hoist, swing, and boom extension. Hydraulic oil cooling and temperature management is handled by an in-frame cooler. The total hydraulic oil reservoir holds 70 gallons, while the upper system oil capacity is 200 gallons.
Standard safety and operational enhancements include bubble-type level indicators on outriggers, backup alarm, hook block, and optional weighted ball for jib use. The HT-200 is a well-rounded hydraulic truck crane ideal for urban construction, utility installation, and light industrial work requiring both compact footprint and dependable lifting performance.
