Demag AC 500-1

The Demag AC 500-1 all-terrain crane is engineered for high-capacity, versatile lifting operations, offering a maximum capacity of 500 tons. Its boom system features a four-section telescopic main boom, extending from a sturdy base section fabricated from fine-grain structural steel. Buckling-resistant with a Demag ovaloid design and self-centering sliding shoes, the boom provides superior stability and durability. The AC 500-1 can also be equipped with lattice extension combinations of the 90-meter luffing jib, plus fixed fly jib configurations of 8.4 meters to 62.4 meters in length, enabling high flexibility and reach across varying job site requirements.

Powered by a DaimlerChrysler diesel engine (OM 502 LA) producing 450 kW (610 hp), and supported by an Allison CLBT 755 transmission with electronic control, torque converter, and hydraulic retarder, the AC 500-1 delivers reliable performance on and off-road. The carrier offers 16 x 8 x 14 drive and steering configurations, with all axles hydropneumatically suspended, hydraulically lockable, and connectable in multiple steering modes, ensuring maneuverability in confined spaces.

The crane superstructure operates via a hydraulic system driven by a secondary DaimlerChrysler engine (OM 906 LA) delivering 205 kW (279 hp). The hoisting system employs an axial-piston variable displacement motor, coupled with integrated planetary reduction and brake for smooth and controlled lifts. Safety and control are prioritized with electrical pilot-control systems, dual self-centering servo levers, and comprehensive digital load monitoring integrated with the crane’s LICCON system.

The spacious operator cab provides ergonomic seating, advanced instrumentation, and climate control systems to maximize comfort and efficiency. Safety features include an electronic safe load indicator, limit switches, hoist rotation indicator, anemometer, and comprehensive overload protection systems.
