The Liebherr LTM 1160-5.2 is a high-performance 160-ton all-terrain crane, engineered to deliver exceptional lifting power, efficiency, and mobility across a variety of construction, industrial, and infrastructure projects. Unveiled at CONEXPO Las Vegas in March 2014, it introduced Liebherr’s innovative single-engine concept, a pioneering design that improves operational efficiency and fuel economy. Unlike traditional all-terrain cranes that use separate engines for the carrier and the superstructure, the LTM 1160-5.2 features a mechanical shaft that transfers power from the carrier engine to the upper structure, eliminating the need for a secondary engine. This advancement reduces overall weight, simplifies maintenance, and lowers fuel consumption, making the crane more cost-effective over time.

Equipped with a six-section telescopic boom extending to 62 meters (203 feet), the LTM 1160-5.2 offers impressive reach and lifting capability. With optional lattice jib attachments, the maximum working height can be extended to 99 meters (325 feet), allowing for high-reach applications such as tower crane assembly, industrial maintenance, and large-scale infrastructure development. The boom’s hydraulic extension system ensures smooth and precise telescoping, enhancing efficiency in job site operations. Furthermore, Liebherr’s VarioBase® outrigger system enables the crane to position its outriggers asymmetrically, optimizing stability in tight and confined workspaces while maximizing lifting performance.

The LTM 1160-5.2 is built on a robust five-axle chassis, incorporating all-wheel steering and hydropneumatic suspension, providing exceptional maneuverability on both highways and off-road terrain. Powered by a Liebherr six-cylinder diesel engine delivering 405 kW (543 hp), the crane offers strong torque and fuel efficiency, ensuring reliable transport between job sites. The transmission system includes a ZF 12-speed automated manual gearbox, which allows for smooth shifting and optimal power distribution, reducing driver fatigue and improving overall travel efficiency.
