Product Description

The Sumitomo SA1700 is a robust 170-ton capacity all terrain crane, engineered for powerful lifting performance and operational versatility. Built for demanding environments, the SA1700 features a 5-section telescopic boom with a standard boom length of 13.6 m to 50.0 m, and comes equipped with a variety of jib options to extend both height and working radius.

The crane offers luffing jib configurations ranging from 18.3 m to 54.9 m, and fly jib options between 12.2 m and 24.4 m. In the heaviest-lift configuration, it can lift 170 tonnes at 3.2 meters radius. The luffing system allows for complex lifting operations over structures or into restricted zones. Tip capacities at maximum jib length include 1.2 tonnes at 59 meters, and working heights can reach over 96 meters with the appropriate jib setup.

The hoisting system achieves line speeds of up to 118 m/min (third layer, main winch), with a slewing speed of 1.6 rpm. Swing operations are smooth and efficient with hydraulic motors and precision control. The boom derricking time is quick, further improving cycle times on site.

The crane’s main upper engine is a water-cooled, 4-cycle, 6-cylinder diesel engine, producing 165 kW (225 PS) at 2,100 rpm, with a torque of 833 Nm at 1,600 rpm, giving the superstructure strong and reliable power. The carrier is mounted on a 10×6 all-wheel drive chassis with CVS FM5318 transmission, ensuring reliable road mobility and off-road traction. The road dimensions include a total length of 13.35 m, overall width of 3.0 m, and a transport weight of approximately 38.56 tonnes.

The outrigger system consists of 4 hydraulically extendable beams offering solid stability, while the overall crane structure is constructed with high-tensile box-shaped steel, ensuring durability and strength in the field. Wire ropes used in the hoisting system include 24 x 150 mm and 350 m lengths for various lifting configurations.

For operator comfort and control, the cab includes ergonomic seating, air conditioning (optional), and a full control panel for crane functions. Safety systems are integrated extensively, including:

  • Over-wind cut-off
  • Boom angle limitation
  • Load moment indicator
  • Anti-two block
  • Outrigger monitoring

Optional features for the SA1700 include auxiliary jib winches, additional fly jib combinations, and electronic monitoring upgrades.

In summary, the Sumitomo SA1700 delivers excellent performance for medium-to-heavy lifting operations, combining high lifting capacity, extensive reach through multiple jib configurations, reliable drivetrain, and safety-focused features. It’s particularly well-suited for infrastructure, heavy construction, and energy-related work requiring flexible setup and strong hoisting power.
