Key Features & Benefits
The Shuttlelift 5560RT is the largest model in the Shuttlelift 5500 Series of rough terrain carry deck cranes, offering increased boom reach and rugged jobsite handling while maintaining a compact footprint ideal for confined industrial, utility, or construction settings. With a maximum lifting capacity of 15 US tons (13.6 metric tons), this model delivers consistent performance in a wide variety of lifting applications, particularly where maneuverability and off-road capability are required.
At the core of the 5560RT’s lifting system is a 4-section telescopic boom that retracts to 15’2″ (4.6 m) and extends to 50’6″ (15.4 m), offering the longest horizontal reach among its series. For additional height and flexibility, a 15-foot (4.6 m) jib is available, pushing its total boom tip height even further for elevated or offset load placements. The boom can elevate from 0° to 80°, enabling a wide range of lifting angles.
The machine is powered by a Cummins 4BT3.9 diesel engine, producing 110 hp at 2500 rpm. This powerplant is paired with a 4-speed forward/4-speed reverse powershift transmission, optimized with transmission oil cooling for durability and consistent performance. Full-time four-wheel drive is standard on the 5560RT, along with an oscillating rear axle and high-traction tires (15.00 x 22.5 radial, high flotation), allowing for stable operation across soft or uneven terrain.
The hydraulic system operates at a system pressure of 3500 psi (24,133 kPa) and supports a variety of boom and outrigger functions via a three-section gear-type main pump. The boom is controlled by electric-hydraulic proportional valves, giving operators smooth, precise control over movements. The main winch uses ½” (12.7 mm) wire rope, offering a line speed of up to 225 ft/min (68.6 m/min) and a bare drum line pull of 12,000 lb (5,443 kg), with a maximum permissible single-line pull of 7,500 lb (3,402 kg).
With an operating weight of 30,700 lb (13,926 kg), the 5560RT includes a robust chassis with hydraulic outriggers that provide stability and quick setup on varied surfaces. The outrigger footprint is 8.75 ft x 10 ft (2.67 m x 3.05 m), and the unit supports independent front and rear control.
The operator cab features full steel construction, an adjustable seat with seatbelt, electric instrumentation, and is optionally available with a fully enclosed cab and air conditioning. Other available equipment includes a heater, cold start system, sliding window, work lights, and a two-man platform for maintenance or elevated access.
Carry deck capabilities are retained, with a total combined boom and deck load limit of 16,000 lb (7,258 kg) and a deck-only rating of up to 20,000 lb (9,072 kg). The crane can travel with load on rubber at a max speed of 2.5 mph (4 km/h) under ideal, level-surface conditions.
In conclusion, the Shuttlelift 5560RT provides top-tier reach, lifting capability, and off-road adaptability in the 15-ton carry deck class. It’s a prime solution for crews needing extended boom length, 4WD traction, and rugged stability in confined or rough working environments.
