Kobelco SL4500R
The Kobelco SL4500R is a 440 US ton class crawler crane engineered for extreme heavy lifting applications. It offers a maximum boom length of 315 ft and luffing jib combinations up to 256 ft + 217 ft. With high line speeds, strong hoisting capacity, and a modular design suited for global transport regulations, the SL4500R is built for demanding infrastructure and energy projects.

Product Description
The SL4500R by Kobelco is a high-capacity hydraulic crawler crane designed for complex lifting operations. Rated at 440 US tons at 18 ft radius, it provides a flexible range of configurations to suit various heavy-duty lifting needs, including standard, heavy lift (HL), and super heavy lift (SHL) modes.
In its standard configuration, the SL4500R supports a maximum boom length of 315 ft, while luffing jib combinations reach up to 256 ft + 217 ft. These setups enable lifting heights and working radii suitable for wind turbine assembly, petrochemical plant construction, and long-span bridge erection.
The crane is powered by a Hino E13C-UV diesel engine, delivering 429 HP (320 kW) at 2,000 rpm, compliant with Tier III/Stage IIIA emissions. It utilizes six variable displacement piston pumps and operates at 32.0 MPa (4,640 psi) hydraulic pressure, supported by a 710-liter hydraulic reservoir and 600-liter fuel tank.
Winch systems are robust and efficient, offering line speeds of up to 110 m/min with a rated line pull of 29,700 lbs (132 kN). The main hoist drums accommodate up to 790 m of 28 mm wire rope, supporting multi-part reeving up to 36 parts, translating into maximum lifting loads of 881,800 lbs. Slewing is 360° with a swing speed of 1.2 rpm, driven by a hydraulic motor with triple planetary reducers.
The upper structure features a precision-machined torsion-free frame, sound-dampened engine compartment, and a full-vision cab equipped with air-conditioning, ergonomic controls, and clear sightlines. Cab amenities include adjustable levers, a roof blind, footrests, and a wide view for safe operations.
The lower structure includes a hydraulically adjustable crawler system with 1.22-meter wide flat shoes and a travel speed of 0.6 to 1.0 km/h. Gradeability is rated at 20%, making it stable across rough terrain. Crawler components are modular for easy disassembly and transport.
For heavy lift work, the SL4500R uses a counterweight system totaling 352,700 lbs, with additional weights depending on configuration. The total operating weight is approximately 910,500 lbs (413 metric tons), and the ground pressure is kept at 25.8 psi, minimizing its footprint on site.
The boom and jib are constructed using high-tensile tubular lattice sections, pinned together for quick assembly and transport efficiency. Erection systems include internal-holding and extension-type jibs, with offset angles up to 120° for various luffing combinations.
With globally compliant transport dimensions (all items under 3 m wide), a fast self-assembly system, and superior hoisting performance, the SL4500R is purpose-built for modern mega projects requiring long reach and heavy capacity.
