Ruston-Bucyrus CH100

The Ruston-Bucyrus CH100 is engineered as a high-performance, fully hydraulic crawler crane with a rated lifting capacity of 100 tons. It combines modern hydraulic technology with traditional structural durability, achieving optimal performance through computer-aided design and precision engineering. The crane’s main boom is lattice-type and configurable up to 66 meters (216 ft), and it offers a flexible operational envelope with optional fly jibs of 12, 18, and 24 meters, enhancing versatility for various lifting scenarios.

At its core is a Cummins M11-C diesel engine rated at 250 kW (335 hp) at 1,800 rpm, paired with a hydraulic system powered by twin variable displacement pumps, ensuring efficient and responsive control. Load hoisting and lowering are operated via servo hydraulic controls, enabling both powered hoist and free-fall operations, selectable by the operator for precise lifting or excavation tasks. The crane includes tandem drums independently driven by piston motors with micro-positioning capabilities, delivering smooth and controlled lifting.

The undercarriage features extra-long and wide crawlers (7900 mm long by 6100 mm wide), providing exceptional stability and low ground-bearing pressures (0.86 kg/cm² with 950 mm track shoes), making it ideal for operations on varying terrains. Crawlers are driven by bent-axis hydraulic motors, allowing fine control for precise steering and pivot turns.

The crane’s operational safety and ease of use are emphasized with features such as a deluxe operator cab offering maximum comfort and ergonomic controls, load moment indicators, swing locks, automatic braking systems, and hydraulic power-assisted drum brakes. Additionally, the CH100 includes comprehensive safety features like telescopic boom backstops, hydraulic drum locks, and overload protection complying with British Standard BS 1757 and ISO 4305 regulations.

The CH100’s advanced hydraulic and mechanical design makes it suitable for a range of applications including lifting, dragline operations, and clamshell excavation. Its robust structural design, precision hydraulics, and extensive safety features ensure reliable performance in demanding construction environments.
