Product Description
The Grove RT522 is a 22 US-ton rough terrain crane equipped with a four-section, full-power synchronized telescoping boom ranging from 33 ft (10.06 m) to 110 ft (33.5 m). This robust construction, featuring high-strength steel and wear pads for both vertical and horizontal support, ensures optimal lifting performance across various construction sites. The boom is fitted with a high-strength boom nose housing five metallic load-bearing sheaves and idler sheaves, designed for easy reeving and secure operations.
The crane offers a standard boom reach from 33 to 110 ft (10.06 – 33.5 m). Additionally, optional boom configurations extend capabilities with jibs ranging from 33 ft (10.06 m) to 58 ft (17.68 m) for increased versatility, allowing a maximum tip height of 167 ft (50.9 m) when the jib is fully extended.
Optional auxiliary boom head sheaves are available for even more diverse rigging options, and a 7.0-ton (6.3 mt) hook and ball can be added to the crane’s equipment for efficient load handling.
This model runs on two power options: Cummins 6BTA5.9 or Caterpillar 3116 DITA engines, delivering 174-175 hp (130 kW) at 2400-2500 rpm. Both engines offer exceptional torque, with 455 lb·ft (Cummins) and 490 lb·ft (Caterpillar), ensuring smooth operation in challenging environments. The transmission system features a full powershift design with 6 forward and 3 reverse speeds, ensuring both power and flexibility on rough terrains.
The RT522 features a high-capacity hydraulic system, powered by three main gear pumps delivering up to 112.5 GPM (425 L/min) combined flow. The system operates the boom, swing, and outriggers, ensuring smooth, powerful operations. A hydraulic oscillation lockout system ensures maximum stability, automatically engaging during lifting activities.
The crane’s swing mechanism allows 360° continuous rotation at a controlled speed of 3.3 RPM, driven by a hydraulic motor. Operator comfort is maximized with a well-designed cab, featuring full hydraulic steering and comprehensive instrumentation for engine, hydraulic, and boom functions. The operator has access to multiple levers for smooth and precise operation of boom extension, swing, and hoist.
The chassis features four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering, with oscillation lockouts to ensure stability on rough terrain. The crane’s outriggers, equipped with hydraulic jacks, extend to a centerline width of 17 ft (5.18 m) for maximum stability during heavy lifts.
Overall, the Grove RT522 is a reliable and versatile rough terrain crane, ideal for construction projects requiring efficient lifting solutions in rugged environments.
