Kato KR70H (MR700)
The Kato KR-70H, also known as the MR-700 “Ultracruiser”, is a 70-ton class rough terrain crane with a 5-section fully powered telescopic boom reaching up to 45 meters, plus an optional 12-meter two-stage power jib for a maximum lifting height of 58 meters. Despite its lifting capacity, it maintains compact dimensions similar to a 50-ton class, making it highly maneuverable with a tight turning radius of just 10 meters. Powered by a 350 PS intercooled turbo diesel engine, the MR-700 delivers strong lifting performance, advanced operator ergonomics, and cutting-edge safety features.

Product Description
The Kato MR-700 “Ultracruiser” (model KR-70H) is Japan’s largest domestically produced 70-ton rough terrain crane and represents a blend of compact design and high-capacity performance. It features a maximum lifting capacity of 70 tons at 2.5 meters radius, supported by a robust 5-section fully powered long boom extending up to 45 meters, with a two-stage hydraulic power jib that adds 12 meters, achieving a maximum lifting height of 58 meters.
Despite its strength, the MR-700 is built with a compact chassis, only 12.64 meters long, 3.0 meters wide, and 3.785 meters high, with a minimum turning radius of just 10 meters, which is tighter than many 50-ton class cranes. This maneuverability is enhanced by its 3-axle full-time steering system, allowing smooth navigation through confined workspaces.
The MR-700 is equipped with a 350 PS intercooled turbo diesel engine that offers excellent acceleration, low fuel consumption, reduced noise, and complies with construction site emission standards. It is paired with a 6-forward and 2-reverse electronic-controlled automatic transmission for comfortable road travel and fine control during operations.
In terms of operator comfort, the crane features a large ergonomically designed cab with a wide field of view, thanks to sloped boom design and oversized glass panels. The UltraWide Angle design ensures excellent visibility during both driving and lifting. The cab includes an ACS moment limiter with a 9-inch color display, advanced multi-vision monitoring, and simplified controls for critical operations such as boom elevation and counterweight detachment.
A signature feature of the MR-700 is the “Triple Swing” jib deployment system, using hydraulic cylinders to deploy, swing out, and retract the jib quickly and safely. Outriggers feature five adjustable widths (from 2.8 m to 7.5 m) and an automatic leveling function (Hydro Level), adapting to various site conditions and ensuring stable lifting even on uneven terrain.
For suspension, Kato applies its Hydro Neumatic Super Suspension on all three axles, providing a balance between road stability and comfortable travel. The entire chassis benefits from a low center of gravity and refined suspension geometry, ensuring a smooth ride and solid performance both on-road and off-road.
Safety is a central focus, with the MR-700 offering features like anti-two-block systems, boom angle limiters, automatic drum brakes, real-time wind monitoring, boom backstop, hook safety latches, and more. Additional modern amenities such as color rear-view cameras, electronic level indicators, and smart diagnostics further elevate the safety and operational ease of this crane.
Overall, the Kato MR-700 “Ultracruiser” is a premium-grade, compact, yet powerful rough terrain crane that stands out for its advanced features, intelligent design, and outstanding performance, especially in restricted or urban work environments.
