Product Description
The XCMG RT70U is a rugged 70 US ton rough terrain crane designed for tough lifting applications in challenging environments, such as construction sites, oil fields, and mining operations. The crane is equipped with a four-section telescoping boom that extends from 37.1 feet to a maximum of 141.7 feet, built using a quadrilateral cross-section structure for improved strength and stability. The boom uses a double-cylinder telescoping mechanism with ropes for synchronous and sequential extension. The crane also supports an optional two-section lattice jib that extends the reach further, ranging from 31.2 feet to 57.4 feet with offset angles of 0°, 20°, and 40°.
Powering the RT70U is a Cummins QSL in-line six-cylinder diesel engine, delivering 260 horsepower at 2,100 rpm and a peak torque of 728 lb-ft at 1,500 rpm. The engine meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 and EU Stage IV emission standards, ensuring compliance with modern environmental regulations. The crane’s fuel tank holds approximately 79.2 gallons, allowing for extended operations without frequent refueling. The hydraulic system, connected through a power take-off (PTO) from the transmission, uses a constant variable displacement pump for efficient crane function control. The hydraulic oil tank capacity is about 239.6 gallons.
The RT70U is built on a durable chassis with a high-strength steel frame and an anti-torsion box structure for enhanced load-bearing capacity. It has four H-shaped hydraulic outriggers, controlled both electrically and hydraulically, which offer multiple extension positions for versatile stabilization options. The crane’s axles are imported from KESSLER, Germany, providing reliable performance and incorporating a rigid front connection with a swing lockable suspension for the rear axle. This suspension configuration ensures smooth travel and stable load handling on rough terrain, with the rear suspension lockable to meet stability requirements during on-road travel with a suspended load.
The steering system employs electro-proportional hydraulic control, allowing for multiple steering modes, including front axle independent steering, crab walk steering, and small turning radius steering, making the crane highly maneuverable in confined spaces. The brake system includes double-circuit hydraulic disc brakes with automatic braking when pressure is too low, supplemented by a spring-loaded parking brake and a hydraulic-released independent disc brake on each axle.
The operator’s cab of the RT70U is designed for comfort and functionality, featuring a spacious interior with ergonomic controls, a large arc glass for wide visibility, and integrated air conditioning. Safety features include a load moment indicator (LMI), hydraulic balance and relief valves, and an anti-two block system to prevent rope over-winding. The crane also has a lowering limiter to avoid over-releasing the rope.
The slewing system is driven by a hydraulic motor with a planetary gear reducer, providing 360° continuous rotation with a built-in constant closed brake for secure positioning. The crane’s main winch is capable of high-speed operation under light loads and low-speed precision under heavy loads, enhancing versatility for different lifting scenarios.
With a total counterweight of 19,841.4 lbs and three counterweight configurations available, the XCMG RT70U is well-equipped to handle diverse lifting tasks. Its robust construction, reliable powertrain, and versatile boom configurations make it an ideal choice for rough terrain operations requiring a combination of strength and mobility.
