Carrier Specifications: The AC335’s carrier is built on a monobox frame with integrated outrigger boxes, constructed from high-grade close-grained steel for superior strength and durability. It features a 10x8x8 drive configuration, where the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th axles are both driven and steered, while the 3rd axle is non-driven. The crane’s differential lock-out and electro-pneumatic gearshift provide seamless handling across various terrains. The ZF-Transmatic transmission, with an 8-speed gearbox, ensures smooth power delivery and includes a torque converter with a retarder for efficient braking.

Powering the AC335 is a Daimler-Benz OM 442 LA 8-cylinder water-cooled diesel engine with an exhaust-turbo intercooler. This engine generates 320 kW (435 HP) at 2100 rpm and a maximum torque of 1765 Nm at 1100 rpm. It is equipped with a 650-liter fuel tank, providing ample capacity for extended operations. The crane’s suspension system is hydro-pneumatic with hydraulic blockable features, allowing for smooth travel even on uneven surfaces. Additionally, the crane is fitted with 16.00 R 25 off-road tires for enhanced stability, and the steering system includes dual-circuit hydraulic mechanisms with hydraulic booster assistance.

Superstructure Specifications: The superstructure is driven by a separate Daimler-Benz OM 366 LA 6-cylinder inline diesel engine, producing 119 kW (163 HP) at 2300 rpm, with a torque of 560 Nm at 1400 rpm. This engine powers the crane’s advanced hydraulic system, which includes two variable-displacement axial-piston pumps that facilitate simultaneous multi-functional operations. The hydraulic system also has a constant-displacement pump for auxiliary control, ensuring smooth and precise management of the boom, hoisting, and slewing movements.

The AC335 is equipped with a five-section telescopic main boom, extending from a base length of 10 meters to a maximum of 60 meters. For additional reach, the crane can be fitted with optional jibs, including a fixed non-luffing jib ranging from 10-17 meters, as well as a folding fly jib that extends between 12-30 meters. These configurations provide a total maximum reach of up to 81 meters, making the AC335 versatile enough for a wide range of lifting scenarios. The main boom design features DEMAG’s signature ovaloid cross-section with self-centering sliders, which provides enhanced stability and strength during operations.

Lifting Performance and Superlift System: The AC335’s lifting performance is bolstered by its Superlift attachment, a system designed to increase the crane’s load capacity significantly. This attachment consists of a lattice-type boom suspension with guy ropes and an automatic rope-length adjustment feature that enhances the boom’s rigidity. The Superlift system is capable of handling heavy loads up to 130% of the crane’s nominal capacity (75%/85%/90% depending on the configuration), providing added stability and lifting power for demanding jobs.

The crane’s maximum lifting moment reaches up to 7355.8 kN·m, enabling it to lift heavy loads with ease. The extension boom and jib attachments allow the crane to adapt to various lift heights and angles, providing flexibility for different projects. Additionally, the crane can be equipped with up to 30 tons of counterweights, which can be hydraulically deployed and adjusted based on the operational requirements.

Operational Efficiency and Safety: The AC335 includes advanced safety features, such as electronic load moment indicators, limit switches, and pressure relief systems, ensuring secure operation even under challenging conditions. The crane’s hoist system uses a constant-displacement axial-piston motor with an anti-twist brake mechanism, facilitating safe and precise lifting and lowering of loads. The hydraulic system is also designed to prevent overloading and ensure balanced distribution of pressure across all components.

The crane cab is designed for maximum operator comfort, featuring an all-steel luxury structure with a large folding-out windscreen, sliding door, and comfortable seating. The cab is equipped with all necessary controls and instruments, including digital displays for load data, boom positioning, and safety monitoring. Additional amenities like hot-air heating and air conditioning ensure a comfortable environment for operators during extended shifts.
