Product Description
The Sumitomo SA1200 all-terrain crane is a versatile, high-performance lifting machine in the 120-ton class, engineered for medium-to-large scale construction and industrial work. Its superstructure is designed with a five-section full power boom using Sumitomo’s box construction and side-mounted sheaves for optimal load distribution. The main boom stretches from a base length of 12.5 meters to a maximum of 47.0 meters. The crane’s lifting capabilities are enhanced by the inclusion of jib and tilt jib options, extending the lifting height up to 60 meters with a working radius of 41 meters.
The boom system is hoisted and telescoped via three synchronizing double-acting hydraulic cylinders and equipped with holding valves. It includes a boom elevation system with a hydraulic cylinder allowing angles from -3° to 83°, controlled by a proportional joystick system. An optional jib with tilt angles of 0°, 20°, and 40° further expands the operating flexibility for complex lift scenarios.
The SA1200 features twin hoisting systems (main and auxiliary) powered by separate winches with maximum line pulls of 11,700 kg and line speeds up to 135 m/min. Drum capacities support up to 440 meters of rope on both winches. Swing operation is achieved via a bi-directional axial piston motor connected to a planetary gearbox and pinion driving the external ring gear.
Mounted on a robust 4-axle carrier—CVS FM4410—the SA1200 offers excellent roadability and off-road performance. The carrier is driven by a Cummins NTA-855-C diesel engine producing 350 hp at 2,100 rpm and 1,300 Nm of torque. The crane upper works are powered by a Hino H07CT engine rated at 180 ps at 2,100 rpm, with a fuel tank capacity of 250 liters. The drivetrain features 8×4/8×8 selectable drive with high-low range transfer gear, and the suspension system incorporates hydropneumatic leveling.
Outriggers are fully hydraulic with four telescopic beams, providing a maximum span of 7.0 meters for stable lifting. The operator’s cab is ergonomically designed with full instrumentation, safety glass, climate control, and a load moment indicator (SUMITOMO Model SML-05A). The cab houses automated safety functions including load percentage indicators, boom angle sensors, over-hoist protection, and emergency stop controls. Additional features include dual brake systems, advanced lighting, optional auxiliary hoist, and a full complement of hooks ranging from 7 to 120 tons.
Built to handle varied terrain and challenging lifts, the SA1200 balances mobility, lifting strength, and ease of operation, making it suitable for infrastructure projects, plant construction, and heavy utility applications.
