Product Description

The Liebherr MK 110 represents one of the largest and most capable cranes in Liebherr’s MK mobile construction crane range. It was developed to meet the growing demand for high hook heights and long working radii on congested inner-city construction sites, where traditional tower cranes are limited by space, erection time, and logistics. Built on a purpose-designed five-axle carrier, the MK 110 has a permissible total weight of approximately 64 tonnes and is engineered to travel on public roads in compliance with regional regulations when configured correctly.

The crane is equipped with a four-section lattice jib offering two main working lengths: 44.0 metres and 52.0 metres. In its longest configuration, the MK 110 provides a maximum working radius of 52 metres with a rated load of around 1,800 kg at the jib head, while shorter jib configurations allow higher capacities, reaching up to approximately 2,800 kg at 44 metres. The maximum lifting capacity of the crane is 8,000 kg at short radii. The jib can be operated at angles of 15°, 30°, and 45°, significantly increasing hook height. With the jib raised, the MK 110 achieves hook heights of up to roughly 68 metres, making it well suited for high-rise residential and commercial developments. The jib’s very tight and high assembly curve allows erection in restricted spaces with minimal rear clearance, a critical advantage in dense urban environments.

The telescopic tower is constructed with solid-wall sections and features automatic locking to the slewing platform. Fully automatic erection is a key feature of the MK 110, allowing one-man setup at the push of a button with minimal manual handling. The crane can remain erected when out of operation, eliminating the need for dismantling between work phases and improving overall site efficiency.

All crane movements are electrically driven using frequency-controlled motors. The slewing system provides smooth, stepless rotation up to approximately 0.8 rpm, ensuring precise load control. The hoist mechanism is frequency-controlled with lifting speeds of up to 75 m/min, including fine-positioning capability for delicate lifts. Trolley travel along the jib is also steplessly controlled, reaching speeds of about 73 m/min. Integrated electronic wind load monitoring and automatic load sway damping enhance safety and productivity, especially at large radii and high hook heights.

An elevating operator’s cab is available as an option and is a defining feature of the MK 110. This lift-type cab can be raised or lowered along the tower to maintain optimal visibility of the load and working area. The cab is fully glazed, climate controlled, and equipped with Liebherr’s Electronic Monitoring System, allowing the operator to manage all crane functions with high precision.

The carrier is powered by a Liebherr D846 A7 six-cylinder diesel engine producing approximately 370 kW (503 hp), compliant with EU Stage III and EPA/CARB Tier 3 emission standards. Power is transmitted through a ZF AS-TRONIC 12-speed automated gearbox with integrated retarder. Axles 1, 3, and 4 are driven, and all five axles are steerable, supported by hydropneumatic suspension with automatic leveling. This configuration provides excellent maneuverability despite the crane’s size, along with stable road handling and a maximum travel speed of around 80 km/h.

The MK 110 is fitted with a fully hydraulic four-point outrigger system featuring automatic leveling and electronic inclination monitoring. Thanks to its favorable center of gravity, the crane can be repositioned on site while erected, provided the jib is aligned in the direction of travel and the slewing platform is locked to the carrier frame. Electrical power for crane operations is supplied by an onboard diesel generator rated at approximately 40–43 kVA, with the option to connect to external 400 V site power for quieter operation.

In summary, the Liebherr MK 110 is a flagship mobile construction crane offering outstanding reach, hook height, and precision handling. It is specifically designed for large-scale urban projects where space is limited, setup time is critical, and tower-crane-level performance is required without the logistical burden of conventional tower crane erection. All specifications and performance figures are based on the manufacturer’s technical documentation.
