Product Description
The Grove RT525 is a highly capable 25-ton rough terrain crane designed for optimal performance in challenging environments. It features a three-section, full-power trapezoidal boom, which extends from 28 ft to 70 ft (8.6 m to 21.3 m). The crane also offers optional telescoping A-frame jibs, ranging from 23 ft to 38 ft (7.1 m to 11.6 m), with offset capabilities of 0°, 15°, and 30°. These options extend the crane’s versatility, providing a maximum boom height of up to 108 ft (32.9 m) when fully configured.
Boom and Lifting:
- Boom length: 28 ft to 70 ft (8.6 m to 21.3 m), with fly section available for greater reach.
- Boom nose: Reinforced with heavy-duty tapered roller bearings and metallic load-bearing sheaves, designed for durability and easy reaving.
- Optional jibs: 23 ft to 38 ft (7.1 m to 11.6 m) telescoping jibs, offsettable at different angles to handle various lifting challenges.
Engine and Performance:
The Grove RT525 is powered by a variety of engine options, including:
- Detroit Diesel 4-53N: 4-cylinder, producing 115 hp @ 2800 RPM, 246 ft-lbs of torque @ 1800 RPM.
- Cummins V378-145: 6-cylinder, providing 121 hp @ 2800 RPM, and 250 ft-lbs of torque @ 1800 RPM.
- Caterpillar 3208: 8-cylinder option, offering 279 ft-lbs of torque at 1400 RPM. These engines are paired with a powershift transmission, offering six forward and six reverse speeds, allowing for smooth operation across different terrains.
Steering and Mobility:
The RT525 is equipped with hydrostatic steering, featuring four steering modes: front-wheel, rear-wheel, coordinated, and crab steering. This allows for superior maneuverability in confined spaces and difficult job site conditions. Hydraulic oscillation lockouts are available to stabilize the rear axle during lifting operations, ensuring safety and balance when handling heavy loads.
Safety Systems:
The crane features the Kruger Load Moment Indicator (LMI) system, which provides the operator with real-time information on boom length, angle, load weight, and radius. Additionally, it includes an anti-two-block system with both audio and visual warnings, ensuring safe operation during lifts.
Hoist and Winch:
The crane is equipped with planetary hoists, designed for powerful and smooth lifting. The main winch offers a line pull of 14,875 lbs (6,745 kg) and a line speed of 164 FPM (50 m/min) at low speed, ensuring precise control and efficient lifting.
Cab and Operator Comfort:
The operator’s cab is an all-weather, full-vision steel cab with large tempered glass windows for optimal visibility. It is equipped with essential operator aids, such as adjustable controls for boom and swing operations, along with climate control options like a defroster fan and windshield wiper. The cab’s ergonomic design minimizes operator fatigue during long hours of operation.
Chassis and Hydraulic System:
The hydraulic outriggers provide stability during lifts, with vertical jacks extending to 17 ft (5.18 m) center-to-center. The system operates with a reservoir capacity of 88 gallons (333 liters), and the hydraulic pumps offer a combined capacity of 112.5 GPM (426 LPM). The system also features a hydraulic oil cooler to maintain optimal performance during continuous operations.
Key Features:
- Maximum lifting capacity: 25 US tons (22.7 metric tons).
- Boom length: 28 ft to 70 ft (8.6 m to 21.3 m).
- Engine options: Detroit Diesel, Cummins, Caterpillar, and Deutz engines.
- Transmission: 6-speed powershift with rear axle disconnect for improved fuel efficiency.
- Steering modes: Four modes for excellent mobility, including crab steering.
- Hydraulic system: 112.5 GPM hydraulic system with built-in oil cooling and bypass filtration.
The Grove RT525 is a reliable and powerful choice for rough terrain applications, offering excellent lifting capabilities, operator comfort, and safety features essential for modern construction and industrial projects.
