Product Description

The Grove RT855B is a high-capacity rough terrain crane, built for demanding lifting operations on uneven and difficult surfaces. With a maximum lifting capacity of 55 US tons (50 metric tons), the RT855B is equipped with a four-section full-power boom that extends from 37 feet to 115 feet (11.2 to 35 meters), providing significant versatility in its reach. The optional three-section boom offers a shorter maximum extension of 89 feet (27 meters). A swingaway lattice extension ranging from 35 to 60 feet (10.6 to 18.2 meters) further enhances its capability, allowing for a maximum tip height of 184 feet (56 meters), suitable for large industrial or construction projects.

This crane is powered by a Cummins 6CTA 8.3 diesel engine with a gross power output of 250 horsepower at 2200 RPM, generating a torque of 794 ft-lbs (1077 Nm) at 1800 RPM. It features a full powershift transmission with six forward and six reverse gears, ensuring excellent mobility across job sites. The crane can travel at speeds up to 25 MPH (40 kph) and navigate grades up to 74%, making it highly maneuverable in tough terrain.

The RT855B features an advanced hydraulic system powered by seven main pumps delivering a combined capacity of 199.2 GPM (754 LPM), with a maximum operating pressure of 3500 PSI (241 bar). The crane is also equipped with a planetary swing system providing a slewing speed of 2.0 RPM, ensuring smooth and precise operation during lifts.

The cab is designed for operator comfort and visibility, featuring full vision galvanealed steel construction, acoustical lining, and tinted safety glass. Additional amenities include hydraulic single-axis controllers, a telescoping and tilt-adjustable steering wheel, a hydraulic oil cab heater/defroster, and various safety features like a fire extinguisher and an anti-two block system with audio-visual warnings.

For stability during operation, the RT855B is supported by a robust outrigger system with four telescoping, double-box beam outriggers equipped with inverted jacks. These outriggers can be deployed in three positions, providing the necessary foundation for safe and efficient crane operation.

The crane’s main hoist system offers a maximum single-line pull of 16,969 lbs (7697 kg) and a single-line speed of 517 feet per minute (157 meters per minute). The system also includes a load moment and anti-two block system, which helps ensure safe operation by providing real-time information on boom angle, length, tip height, and relative load moment.

Designed for rough terrain, the RT855B is fitted with 29.5×25 – 28PR earthmover tires, offering excellent ground contact and traction. For enhanced flexibility in driving conditions, it comes with 4×4 drive and steering modes, including front, rear, crab, and coordinated steering, allowing operators to navigate confined and complex work areas efficiently.

Overall, the Grove RT855B is a well-engineered rough terrain crane, combining power, precision, and versatility to meet the demanding needs of heavy lifting in construction and industrial environments.
