Product Description
The Tadano TR-350XL is a high-performance 35-ton (31.7 metric ton) rough terrain crane engineered for demanding lifting tasks in challenging environments. Its boom is a 4-section, fully synchronized telescoping design that extends from 29.8 ft to 93.8 ft (9.1 m to 28.6 m). Constructed from high-strength steel, the boom is supported by five 12 5/8-inch (320 mm) diameter sheaves at the boom head. The synchronization system uses two telescoping cylinders and a hydraulic extension/retraction cable to ensure smooth, precise movements.
The boom elevation range spans from 0° to 80°, controlled by a double-acting hydraulic cylinder. For additional versatility, the TR-350XL offers an optional two-piece lattice jib that extends up to 42 ft (12.8 m) with offset positions of 5°, 25°, and 45°, allowing the crane to handle a wide range of lift heights and angles.
The crane’s main hoist is powered by a hydraulic axial piston motor with a planetary gear reducer. It features a grooved drum capable of holding 574 ft (175 m) of 5/8-inch (16 mm) diameter wire rope. The main hoist provides a maximum line pull of 10,078 lbs (4,571 kg) and a line speed of 394 ft/min (120 m/min), ensuring smooth and efficient lifting operations. An auxiliary hoist is available for dual-lift capabilities, offering similar performance characteristics.
The TR-350XL is equipped with a robust hydraulic system powered by tandem variable displacement pumps, allowing independent control of boom extension, swing, outriggers, and other crane functions. The hydraulic reservoir holds 120 gallons (456 liters) and features advanced filtration to ensure the system’s longevity and reliability. A planetary swing mechanism, driven by an axial piston motor, provides 360° continuous rotation at 3.4 rpm, allowing the crane to smoothly position loads in any direction.
Operator safety is enhanced by Tadano’s AML-M (Automatic Moment Limiter) load moment indicator system. This system monitors the boom angle, load, and working radius in real-time, alerting the operator if the crane approaches its operational limits. The AML-M system also includes a boom angle preset function, load display, and external warning lamps to ensure safe operation during complex lifts.
The operator’s cab is ergonomically designed for comfort and efficiency. It features a fully enclosed, steel-constructed cab with a sliding door, shatter-resistant windows, and a high-back adjustable seat. The cab is equipped with tilt-telescoping steering, adjustable control levers, and comprehensive instrument monitoring, including indicators for oil pressure, engine temperature, fuel levels, and more. Foot pedals control the hoist, brake, and throttle for smooth operation.
The crane’s drivetrain is powered by a Mitsubishi 6D16T direct-injection diesel engine, producing 215 hp (160 kW) at 2,800 RPM and 470 ft-lbs (65 kg-m) of torque at 1,600 RPM. The engine is paired with an electronically controlled, fully automatic transmission offering six forward gears and two reverse gears, allowing the crane to reach a maximum travel speed of 31.2 mph (50.2 km/h). The TR-350XL’s 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering systems ensure maneuverability in tight spaces and rough terrain, with front, coordinated, and crab steering modes available for different job site conditions.
The crane is stabilized by four hydraulic outriggers with integral holding valves. The outrigger beams can extend to a maximum centerline span of 20 ft 8 1/16 in (6.3 m) and retract to a compact width of 8 ft 6 3/8 in (2.6 m), allowing for stable operation on uneven ground. Each outrigger is independently controlled from the operator’s cab, ensuring proper leveling for safe lifts.
Overall, the Tadano TR-350XL is a versatile and powerful rough terrain crane designed for heavy lifting in off-road environments. Its combination of a high-capacity boom, advanced hydraulic system, and modern safety features makes it an ideal choice for construction, oil and gas, and industrial applications requiring both mobility and strength.
