Product Description

The Liebherr LTM 1070-4.2 is a compact and powerful all terrain crane built on a four-axle 8x6x8 carrier, offering a maximum lifting capacity of 70 tonnes. This model is recognized for its roadability, maneuverability, and lifting precision, making it a versatile solution for a wide variety of lifting operations, including urban construction, industrial projects, and energy sector installations. The crane is equipped with a 50-meter, 5-section telescopic boom that delivers excellent lifting performance across a broad working range. With the boom fully extended, it provides a lifting capacity of 0.8 tonnes at a 44-meter radius, which is highly efficient for a crane of this size.

To extend its operational reach, the crane can be equipped with an optional 9.5 to 17-meter double fly jib. This jib is offsettable at 0°, 20°, 40°, and 60°, providing added flexibility in lifts that require higher elevations or awkward clearances. The fly jib is integrated with a 3.2-meter assembly jib, also offsettable at the same angles, which is particularly useful when operating under low overhead clearance or in confined spaces. With the jib configuration, the crane achieves a maximum hook height of 65 meters and can lift 0.7 tonnes at a 48-meter working radius, allowing it to perform effectively even in challenging lifting scenarios.

The carrier is powered by a Liebherr 6-cylinder diesel engine rated at 270 kW, offering ample torque and reliability for both highway travel and on-site operations. The 12-speed ZF AS-Tronic automatic transmission ensures smooth gear shifts, while the rear axles are fitted with hydro-mechanical speed-regulated steering for enhanced maneuverability and reduced tire wear. This system enables the crane to navigate tight job sites with ease, despite its high lifting capacity and robust build.

On the superstructure side, the crane employs a diesel-hydraulic drive with servo control and electronic load-sensing systems, which allows up to four crane movements to be carried out simultaneously. These advanced hydraulics contribute to smoother, faster, and more precise crane operation. The crane is operated via the LICCON2 (Liebherr Computed Control) system, a state-of-the-art crane control platform that provides intuitive operation, real-time load monitoring, and diagnostic feedback. The crane is also equipped with a BTT-Bluetooth Terminal, which allows for remote setup operations such as outrigger extension and engine start/stop, streamlining the setup process and increasing job site safety.

The operator’s cab is designed for comfort and function, with optional air conditioning, full instrumentation, ergonomic seating, and the ability to tilt backward to improve upward visibility during high-boom operations. The design reflects Liebherr’s focus on operator efficiency and fatigue reduction during prolonged shifts.

The ballast configuration includes a 10.7-tonne base counterweight, with an optional additional 3.8 tonnes, giving users the flexibility to adjust counterweight according to lift requirements. The crane’s compact transport dimensions and axle load distribution make it road-legal without the need for complex logistics, which is a major advantage for fleet operators.

A notable milestone in the crane’s history occurred in 2012 when Cadman Cranes Ltd, a UK-based rental company, purchased the LTM 1070-4.2 as their first Liebherr crane, expanding their fleet of 22 cranes and marking the beginning of their partnership with Liebherr.
