Kato KR-10HM-L (MR-100MLsp)

The Kato KR-10HM-L, or MR-100MLsp, is a mini rough terrain crane designed for high performance in limited-access job sites and urban environments. It combines compact size with advanced crane features, making it ideal for residential construction, plant maintenance, and confined lifting operations. With a maximum lifting capacity of 4.9 tons at a 1.6-meter working radius, this machine packs serious lifting capability in a compact footprint.

Its fully hydraulic 4-section boom extends from 5.5 meters to 23.5 meters, supporting precise load placement and versatile lifting. Additionally, it’s equipped with a 3-section fly jib ranging from 3.6 to 5.6 meters, mounted with hydraulic offset at 0°, 15°, 30°, and 45°, enhancing the crane’s ability to reach difficult angles and overhead spaces. The maximum boom + jib lifting height is 29.1 meters.

Boom telescoping is achieved using a cylinder + wire rope system for smooth extension/retraction at 21 seconds from full retraction to extension. Boom raising and slewing are powered hydraulically with slewing speed rated at 2.5 rpm. The hoisting system includes both main and auxiliary winches capable of line speeds of up to 28 m/min (third layer), with a maximum hook speed of 30 m/min.

The crane is powered by an Isuzu 4-cylinder diesel engine (4JG1-TN, turbo-intercooled), rated at 66 kW (90 PS) at 3,000 rpm and 186 Nm torque at 1,600 rpm. It drives a 3-speed automatic transmission with Hi/Lo range and selectable 2WD/4WD. The suspension uses leaf springs at the front with rigid axle support at the rear. The compact chassis provides excellent maneuverability, with a minimum turning radius of 3.22 meters (4-wheel steer), a top speed of 49 km/h, and 70% gradeability.

The crane features a full-width operator’s cab with good visibility, ergonomic seating, and all key levers and monitors within easy reach. The ACS (Automatic Crane System) ensures overload protection, outrigger monitoring, boom/jib interference control, and auto safety cut-outs. Additionally, an anti-two block device, drum rotation indicators, and real-time load monitoring contribute to safe and efficient operation.

The outrigger system provides multiple extension levels: 4.5 meters fully extended, 3.6 meters intermediate, and 2.5 meters for narrow working conditions. All outriggers are hydraulically operated and equipped with pressure sensors for leveling stability.

This model is a high-spec “Special” variant of the MR-100ML series, offering upgraded safety, performance, and urban versatility in a 4.9-ton lifting class.
