Product Description
The Tadano GR-1200XL is a flagship model in Tadano’s rough terrain crane series, introduced as the company’s largest 2-axle rough terrain crane. It made its official debut at the Conexpo 2017 construction trade show, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from March 7th to 11th, 2017. This unveiling marked a significant step in Tadano’s product development strategy, addressing growing demand for high-capacity, compact-footprint cranes in infrastructure and energy projects.
Rated at 120 U.S. tons (110 metric tonnes), the GR-1200XL features a five-section, full-power telescoping boom that extends from 39.4 feet to 183.7 feet (56.0 meters), providing exceptional lifting reach and height from a 2-axle platform. The boom’s rounded profile enhances strength and durability while reducing weight. When fitted with a two-stage bi-fold jib that can be offset at 5°, 25°, or 45°, the crane can reach a maximum tip height of 241.4 feet, making it ideal for tall structure assembly, wind turbine component handling, and heavy lifting in congested or remote work areas.
Powering the GR-1200XL is a 362 HP Cummins B6.7 engine, matched with a six-speed full automatic transmission driving a 4×4 configuration. This drivetrain delivers strong off-road capability and smooth on-site maneuverability, with a top travel speed of 22.4 mph and a minimum turning radius of just 24 feet. The crane uses hydro-pneumatic suspension on the front axle for improved ride quality and jobsite adaptability.
Tadano’s intelligent systems—such as Smart Chart for lift optimization and the AML-E2 Load Moment Indicator—enhance operational efficiency and safety. A large, fully enclosed cab tilts up to 20°, and includes a 10.4-inch touchscreen, ergonomic joystick controls, air suspension seating, and full climate control. For site safety and visibility, the GR-1200XL integrates the Tadano View System and HELLO-NET telematics platform for remote diagnostics and fleet management.
The 25,400 lb self-removable counterweight system and multiple outrigger extension options add to its versatility, making the GR-1200XL highly efficient during setup and transport. With its combination of lifting performance, intelligent control systems, and rugged terrain adaptability, the Tadano GR-1200XL has established itself as a premier choice for high-demand rough terrain crane applications worldwide.
