Product Description
The Terex CTL1600-66 was officially introduced on 15 April 2014 during a customer showcase at the Terex test facility near Fontanafredda, Italy. This crane is a milestone in Terex’s luffing jib tower crane lineup, delivering 1,600 tonne-metres of lifting moment with a maximum lifting capacity of 66 tonnes, making it the most powerful luffer in the company’s history at the time of launch. Its ability to lift 16 tonnes at the tip of its 75-meter jib outstrips the previous top model, the CTL650F-45, which could manage 7 tonnes at 65 meters.
The CTL1600-66 is engineered for major urban and infrastructure projects that require high performance in tight spaces, leveraging its luffing jib to reduce over-sailing — a crucial factor in dense metropolitan areas. In terms of versatility, it offers numerous tower and jib configurations to match varied job site conditions. It uses the HD33 tower system, and its modular design supports efficient transport and assembly.
The crane is also equipped with Terex’s high-performance hoisting mechanisms and electronic control systems, ensuring both safety and operational efficiency. Select Plant Hire in the UK was the first customer to take delivery of the CTL1600-66, with the first two units destined for major construction projects in Manchester and London.
This crane is not only a benchmark in lifting capability but also a showcase of Terex’s engineering focused on adaptability, power, and operator safety, setting new standards in the luffing tower crane segment.
