Product Description

The Liebherr LG 1550 is a 550-ton capacity lattice boom truck crane designed for high-performance lifting in large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects. This crane combines the strength of a lattice boom crane with the flexibility and mobility of a truck-mounted chassis, making it suitable for projects requiring rapid relocation and setup.

Crane Carrier

The crane carrier features a robust, torsion-resistant frame, constructed from high-tensile structural steel. It is equipped with four hydraulic swing-out outriggers supported by pad jacks for enhanced stability during lifting operations. The carrier is powered by an 8-cylinder, water-cooled Liebherr D 9408 TI-E A5 diesel engine that delivers 440 kW (598 hp) at 2100 rpm, with a torque of 2580 Nm at 1500 rpm. The transmission system includes an Allison CLBT 755 automatic transmission with 5 forward speeds, 1 reverse gear, and a splitter gearbox, allowing smooth operation both on and off-road.

The LG 1550 is supported by 8 heavy-duty axles, with planetary reduction gears on axles 1, 2, 5, and 6 for increased traction. All axles feature hydropneumatic suspension, which allows for automatic leveling and load equalization between the axle pairs, providing enhanced stability. The crane is fitted with 24 large, single-type tires (14.00 R 25), enabling it to handle uneven terrain while maintaining mobility.

Crane Superstructure

The crane’s superstructure is built from high-tensile steel and designed for maximum load handling with a 360° slewing range. It is powered by a 6-cylinder Liebherr D 9406 TI-E engine, producing 300 kW (408 hp) at 1900 rpm, and a maximum torque of 1710 Nm. The crane’s hydraulic systems are controlled through axial piston pumps and planetary gears, providing precise control of the winches, slewing, and counterweight functions. The winches are hydraulically driven, and the slewing system allows for smooth rotation at variable speeds of up to 1.2 min⁻¹.

The crane is equipped with a 160-ton counterweight system, including 16 slabs, with an option to add 40 tons for additional stability in demanding lifts. The operator’s cabin is designed with safety in mind, featuring steel construction, safety glazing, and ergonomic controls, including joysticks for precise load handling.

Boom Configurations

The LG 1550 offers flexible boom and jib configurations to adapt to different project needs:

  • Main Boom (SL): Up to 140 meters in length, ideal for heavy lifting tasks.
  • Derrick Boom (SD): Extends the crane’s reach and stability for larger loads.
  • Fixed Jib (SW): Used for extended reach in wind turbine installations.
  • Luffing Jib (SWN): Adds flexibility for angled lifting tasks.

Optional configurations, such as the suspended ballast system (up to 250 tons), further enhance the crane’s lifting capacity and stability, making it suitable for wind turbine installations, port handling, and other large-scale projects.

In summary, the Liebherr LG 1550 is a versatile and powerful lattice boom truck crane, offering high mobility, lifting capacity, and multiple configuration options for various heavy-duty lifting tasks. Its advanced hydraulic systems, strong engine performance, and durable construction make it an excellent choice for complex construction and industrial applications.
