Product Description
The P&H 790-TC lattice boom truck crane is built to handle substantial lifting challenges, with a standard boom configuration of 50 feet (15.25 meters), extendable up to 200 feet (61 meters) through pin-connected open throat boom sections made of high-tensile steel. The boom utilizes five sheaves on the point, enabling multi-part line reeving to accommodate a range of load capacities, from 20,000 kg with a single sheave hook to 65,000 kg with a five-sheave configuration.
The crane is powered by a Cummins NH-855-C diesel engine, providing 120 kW (160 HP) at 1,600 RPM. The engine drives a 3-speed manual transmission through a 457 mm internal expanding clutch, with a 2.0:1 ratio transfer case for optimal torque and speed management. Line speeds for the main hoist reach up to 38 m/min for hoisting and 23 m/min for lowering, while a third drum allows for auxiliary operations at 44 m/min.
The boom hoist system features a planetary gear type mechanism with anti-friction bearings, paired with a locking boom pawl to secure positioning. The swing system includes a two-unit electro-magnetic clutch (“magnetorque”) and hydraulic release swing brake, offering 3.88 RPM swing speed and 170 teeth on a 1715 mm P.D. swing gear.
A range of drums supports various applications:
- Front and rear drum configurations for dragline, crane, and clamshell applications
- Line data supports up to 50 m/min line speed, with load capacity ranging from 12,000 to 12,360 kg
- Additional equipment includes tagline winder and digging drum, enhancing versatility in excavation and lifting.
The carrier is a heavy-duty platform engineered with high-strength structural steel and removable rear frames for shipping. Equipped with four hydraulic outriggers and adjustable float pads, the crane offers high stability. The outrigger beams provide up to 150% extension, with eight hydraulic cylinders delivering precise control over each outrigger.
With a total counterweight of 11,800 kg, a high gantry system, and a fully enclosed operator cab, the P&H 790-TC delivers high performance, safety, and control. It’s ideally suited for large-scale construction projects requiring extended reach and strong load handling with truck-mounted mobility.
