Potain MCT 80
The Potain MCT 80 is a compact flat top (topless) tower crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 5 tonnes and a 52-meter maximum jib length. It replaces the earlier MCi 80 model, offering improved reach, higher freestanding height, and optional variable frequency drive across all motion mechanisms for enhanced precision and control.

Product Description
The Potain MCT 80 is a modern topless tower crane developed as the successor to the earlier MCi 80 model. Designed for efficient performance on small to mid-sized construction sites, particularly in urban areas, the MCT 80 features a maximum lifting capacity of 5 tonnes and a maximum working radius of 52 meters. At full jib extension, it can handle up to 1.1 tonnes at the tip, offering a strong combination of reach and lifting performance.
One of the key upgrades over its predecessor is the crane’s ability to achieve a maximum freestanding hook height of 47.6 meters, supported by a 1.2 m x 1.2 m mast system. This makes the MCT 80 suitable for mid-rise buildings and applications requiring independent crane setups without additional tie-ins.
The crane’s hoisting system is available with either the 40 LVF or 25 PC winch, offering lifting speeds up to 81.5 meters per minute and rope capacities up to 425 meters, depending on the reeving and load configuration. Additionally, all three primary drive mechanisms—hoisting, slewing, and trolleying—are available with variable frequency drive (VFD) as an option. This provides smoother acceleration, better precision in load positioning, and greater energy efficiency.
For slewing, the RVF 151 Optima+ system allows smooth 360-degree rotation with a top speed of 0.8 rpm, while the trolley mechanism offers horizontal movement speeds up to 63 m/min, ensuring quick load cycles.
With its modular topless design, the MCT 80 simplifies erection and allows for overlapping configurations with other cranes—ideal in confined sites or where multiple cranes operate simultaneously. All major components are transportable in standard 40-foot High Cube containers or 20-foot flat racks, ensuring cost-effective logistics and easy deployment.
The MCT 80 embodies Potain’s commitment to continuous improvement in lifting solutions, offering better performance, reach, and operational precision compared to its predecessor, making it a reliable and economical choice for a wide variety of construction projects.
