Grove RT500DXL

The Grove RT500DXL is a versatile rough terrain crane with a lifting capacity of 30 US tons (27 metric tons), ideal for demanding construction and industrial environments. Its four-section full-power boom offers a range from 32 feet to 90 feet (9.8 to 27.4 meters), delivering excellent reach and flexibility. For projects requiring extended height, an optional 25-foot (7.6-meter) fixed swingaway extension is available, providing a maximum tip height of 123 feet (37.5 meters). A telescoping swingaway extension with lengths of 25 to 43 feet (7.6 to 13 meters) can increase the maximum tip height to 141 feet (42.9 meters), with offset settings of 0° or 30° for enhanced versatility.

The crane is powered by a Cummins 6BT5.9 six-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine that delivers 145 horsepower (108 kW) at 2200 RPM and a maximum torque of 400 ft-lbs (542 Nm) at 1600 RPM. This powertrain is paired with a full powershift transmission, offering 8 forward and 4 reverse gears. The RT500DXL features a 4×4 drive system for optimal performance on rough terrain, and the crane can travel at speeds of up to 24 mph (39 kph), ensuring ease of transport across job sites.

The crane’s hydraulic system comprises five main gear pumps with a combined capacity of 172.4 GPM (652 LPM), providing efficient operation for the boom, swing, and hoist functions. The system operates at a maximum pressure of 3500 PSI (241 bar) and includes a 120-gallon hydraulic reservoir for long-duration tasks. The RT500DXL’s planetary swing system enables smooth 360° rotation with a maximum speed of 3 RPM.

For lifting operations, the crane is equipped with a main hoist capable of a maximum single-line pull of 10,591 pounds (4804 kg) and a line speed of 450 feet per minute (137 meters per minute). The crane also comes with a load moment indicator and an anti-two block system, ensuring safe operation by providing real-time data on critical lifting parameters such as boom angle, length, and load radius.

The RT500DXL’s robust stability is supported by four hydraulic outriggers with three-position settings and a maximum outrigger pad load of 47,941 pounds (21,746 kg). The crane is suitable for 360° operation with fully extended outriggers, offering complete operational flexibility. The chassis is fabricated from high-strength, low-alloy steel with integral outrigger housings and towing lugs.

Operator comfort and safety are prioritized with the cab, which features full visibility, acoustical lining, and tinted safety glass. The cab is equipped with a deluxe adjustable seat, hydraulic controls, a telescoping and tilting steering wheel, and a comprehensive set of gauges to monitor engine and crane functions. Additional features include a hot water heater, circulating air fan, and a fire extinguisher.
