Product Description
The Potain MCT 278 K10 is a flat top tower crane engineered to offer high performance and flexibility for demanding construction environments, especially where multiple cranes are in operation or where clearance height is limited. This crane boasts a maximum lifting capacity of 10 tonnes and supports jib lengths up to 70 meters. At its full radius, it can lift up to 2.3 tonnes, making it suitable for a wide array of structural and material handling tasks.
The crane mounts on a 2.0 m x 2.0 m mast system and supports a variety of tower configurations including P 20A, P 21A, VB 21A, and BA 66A. Depending on the tower setup, the freestanding hook height reaches up to 64.7 meters, while climbing configurations can extend the working height significantly, with potential maximum hook heights well over 220 meters when tied in.
The MCT 278 K10 is powered by either the 60 LVF 25 or the 75 HPL™ 25 hoisting mechanisms. These winches offer lifting speeds ranging from 5 m/min to over 215 m/min and support rope capacities up to 834 meters. The crane includes variable frequency drives (VFDs) for all main operations—hoisting, slewing, and trolleying—ensuring smooth acceleration, precise load control, and reduced wear on components.
Slewing is managed via the RVF 162 Optima+ system, delivering smooth and controlled rotation at up to 0.63 rpm. The 6 DVFC 4 trolleying system enables speeds up to 120 m/min, optimized for both light and heavy loads. The crane also features Potain’s Power Control function, dynamically adjusting hoisting performance to the site’s electrical capacity, enhancing operational efficiency in power-constrained environments.
Designed for modularity, all major components of the MCT 278 K10 can be packed into standard 40-foot high cube containers or flat racks for easy transport. It complies with FEM 1.001-A3 safety and performance standards and is well-suited for urban, commercial, and infrastructure developments requiring both lifting strength and adaptability.
Overall, the MCT 278 K10 provides an excellent combination of reach, capacity, and modern technology, making it a competitive choice for contractors seeking a reliable flat top crane for complex, high-volume projects.
