Product Description

The Potain Topkit MD 175 is a versatile and proven hammerhead tower crane engineered for a broad spectrum of mid-rise and large-scale construction projects. With a maximum capacity of 10 tonnes and a jib that can be extended up to 60 meters, the crane offers a strong balance of load reach and lifting power. At its maximum jib length of 60 meters, it maintains a tip load of 1.4 tonnes. Performance increases significantly at shorter radii, achieving up to 5.35 tonnes at 25 meters and 4.8 tonnes at 30 meters.

This model supports both 1.6m and 2m mast systems (MD 175 G8/G10 and MD 175 H8/H10 respectively), allowing great adaptability in jobsite conditions and tower height requirements. With multiple base options such as S40A, S41A, ZD46A, and V60A, the MD 175 can be mounted on foundations or rail tracks with different freestanding heights, reaching up to 68.4 meters without anchorage. The mast segments are modular, allowing tower construction in 5-meter and 10-meter increments with standard vertical panel joints.

The crane’s hoisting system includes two main configurations: an 8-tonne RCS winch powered by a 55 hp (40.5 kW) motor with up to 566 meters of rope capacity, and a 10-tonne RCS winch, also 55 hp, supporting 560 meters of rope. These systems can achieve speeds up to 84 m/min depending on the winch and load. The PC and 20D hoisting alternatives provide lower-powered options for lighter jobs. Trolleying is handled by the 5 D3 V4 mechanism with a travel range of 15 to 58 m/min, depending on load and speed setting.

Slewing is performed by the RCV 145 system, with twin 6 hp (4.4 kW) motors achieving slewing speeds up to 0.8 rpm, ensuring smooth and responsive rotation. For travel-mounted installations, the MD 175 can be outfitted with different bogies depending on the tower system: RT 324, RT 443, or RT 544, with travel speeds from 12.5 to 27 m/min and rail gauges from 10 to 13 meters. Slewing, trolleying, and travel systems are all electrically driven.

Counter-jib ballast is modular and adapts to different jib lengths using a combination of 4200 kg and 700 kg slab weights, ensuring stability across all configurations. Electrically, the MD 175 operates on 370V–400V at 50Hz, with power requirements up to 80 kVA for the RCS winch system.

The MD 175 is also well-suited for internal climbing operations, thanks to its compatibility with telescoping climbing frames like the B41. It supports hook heights from 71 meters up to 174 meters depending on hoisting configuration and rope length, making it a capable solution for in-core and high-rise applications.

Reliable, robust, and adaptable, the Potain MD 175 serves as a staple in Potain’s tower crane lineup. It provides dependable lifting performance across a wide range of projects—from residential towers and commercial complexes to industrial facilities—where a strong mix of reach, height, and lifting power is essential.
