Sarens Lift Viaduct over Railway Track

Sarens was asked by WKS Grybow to lift and install the viaduct over the railway track. The new track will help the train to now travel at a speed of 90 km/h thus reducing the time of travel by more than an hour.

The site was located in the city centre and the team was given a time window of four hours to execute the lift and installation. Demag CC3800 was selected to lift the viaduct because of the confined space and weight of the spans to be lifted. The heaviest span of the viaduct weighed 250t and measured 8,4m.

The crane was transported on-site in trucks and assembled to lift the spans of the viaduct. The spans will connect the pillars on both sides of the track. Sarens Regional Director, Eastern and Northern Europe, Mariusz Sudol says, “Our teams worked in night shifts during the voltage cut-off for four hours to safely install the spans. Our CEO was also present on-site during the lift to encourage our crew.”
