Kobelco P&H 5045

The crane is built on a tractor-type crawler undercarriage with extendable/retractable side frames for transport and jobsite stability. It runs on 110 sealed track rollers with 760 mm wide flat shoes, offering excellent mobility. The travel speed is 1.4 km/h, and the crane can climb slopes up to 40%.

For lifting operations, the P&H 5045 features a two-piece open throat lattice boom with pin-connected sections. The base boom length is 9.14 m and can be extended up to 48.77 m with optional inserts. For clamshell work, the boom is limited to 18.29 m.

The crane supports various hook blocks including 45-ton, 15-ton, and 5-ton ball hooks. Wire ropes range from 14 mm to 28 mm in diameter, depending on function, with the boom hoist using a 12-part reeving system. The boom is protected by a telescopic spring bumper backstop.

The crawler system is hydraulically driven with independent power units on each side, allowing skid steering and counter-rotation. Hydraulically released disc brakes ensure smooth and safe operation.

Hoisting is handled by left and right drums for main and jib winches, plus a separate boom hoist drum. Line speeds reach up to 157 ft/min hoisting and 112 ft/min lowering. Drum capacity and wire rope lengths are tailored for both lifting and clamshell use.

In clamshell configuration, the crane can handle buckets up to 2.0 m³ (approx. 1,800 kg max weight). A hydraulic tagline winder is included for smooth operation. Boom inserts are also available for clamshell use in 3.05 m, 6.10 m, and 9.14 m lengths.

Working weight is approximately 40,300 kg in both lifting and clamshell configurations. Ground pressure is 0.58 kg/cm² for lifting and 0.55 kg/cm² for clamshell work, ensuring low ground impact.
