Product Description

The Manitowoc 18000 is a premium large-capacity crawler crane engineered for the most demanding lift applications. Rated at 600 US tons (544 metric tons) in standard configuration and up to 825 US tons (750 metric tons) with the MAX-ER® heavy-lift attachment, the crane supports up to 97.5 meters (320 ft) of main boom and 149.3 meters (490 ft) of luffing jib combinations.

Its upperworks is powered by a Cummins QSX15, a 6-cylinder diesel engine delivering 447 kW (600 HP) at 1800 RPM, with a closed-loop hydraulic system that independently powers all major functions, including hoisting, swing, boom operation, and crawler movement. This is coordinated through Manitowoc’s EPIC® (Electronically Processed Independent Controls) system, which provides highly responsive, modulated control and integrated diagnostics for both operational performance and servicing.

For precise load handling, the crane incorporates a range of drum configurations, including dual main drums (Drums 1 and 2) and a third whip line drum. These support 28 mm and 32 mm wire ropes with maximum line pulls over 45 tons (40.8 metric tons) per drum. The main drums allow for multiple parts of line, providing a wide range of lifting capacities, from 71,700 lbs (32.5 metric tons) with 2-part reeving up to 1,000,000 lbs (453.5 metric tons) with 22 parts of line using 32 mm rope.

The 18000 also offers:

  • Swing speed of 1.2 rpm
  • Spooling capacities of over 1,440 meters (4,723 feet) of 32 mm rope on Drums 1 and 2
  • FACT™ connectors for fast assembly/disassembly of boom and mast
  • Optional self-erecting system with jacks and wireless controls

The crane’s heavy-lift system includes multiple boom setups using No. 55/55A, 79A, and 44 luffing jib components, and MAX-ER® attachments with up to four swing drives. The Vision Cab™ enhances operator comfort with full visibility, climate control, and electronic interface for load moment indication and system monitoring.

Given its modular design, wide application range, and extreme lifting capacity, the Manitowoc 18000 is ideal for wind energy installations, petrochemical plant construction, bridge work, and other mega infrastructure projects.
