XCMG XGC12000, 800 ton crawler crane with 12500tm

Key Features & Benefits

The XCMG XGC12000 is a heavy-duty crawler crane designed to serve the growing demand for ultra-large lifting equipment in sectors such as wind energy, petrochemical construction, thermal and nuclear power plants, heavy industrial installations, and infrastructure development. Developed as part of XCMG’s next generation of large crawler cranes, the model combines an 800-tonne maximum lifting capacity with extensive boom and jib configurations, enabling the crane to perform both conventional heavy lifting and specialized wind turbine installation tasks. The crane utilizes a high-strength lattice boom structure manufactured from high-strength seamless steel tubes and welded high-strength steel plate sections, providing the rigidity and durability required for large-capacity lifting operations.

The crane offers a maximum rated lifting capacity of 800 tonnes, placing it among the largest crawler cranes produced by XCMG. Standard heavy boom (HB) configurations range from 24 m to 90 m, while the superlift heavy boom (SHB) can be configured from 42 m to 150 m. For applications requiring exceptional hook heights, the standard light boom (LB) ranges from 84 m to 108 m, and the superlift light boom (SLB) extends from 81 m to 168 m. These long boom combinations allow the XGC12000 to perform high-elevation lifts while maintaining substantial load capacities.

A major feature of the XGC12000 is its dedicated wind power capability. The crane can be configured with a standard wind power jib (HJ) utilizing main boom lengths from 90 m to 114 m, while the superlift wind power jib (SHJ) extends the main boom to between 90 m and 168 m. For even larger wind turbine installations, the crane offers the SHJ-DS superlift wind power double-boom arrangement with boom lengths ranging from 102 m to 168 m. These configurations were specifically developed to meet the installation requirements of modern high-hub wind turbines, where both lifting capacity and hook height are critical.

For heavy lifting projects requiring luffing jib configurations, the XGC12000 can be equipped with a standard tower jib (HW) ranging from 30 m to 96 m, while the superlift tower jib (SHW) extends up to 120 m. Additional configurations include a dedicated superlift special jib (SHVJ) with a 12 m jib length. The versatility of these boom and jib arrangements enables the crane to adapt to a broad range of project requirements, from refinery construction and heavy industrial erection to power generation and wind farm development.

Power for the XGC12000 is provided by a Weichai WP17G770E302 diesel engine producing 566 kW at 2,100 rpm, with a maximum torque output of 3,000 Nm between 1,200 and 1,500 rpm. The V8 engine features water cooling, turbocharging, intercooling, direct fuel injection, and complies with China’s Non-Road Stage III emission requirements. Fuel capacity is approximately 800 litres, allowing extended operation on large construction sites.

The crane’s hoisting system consists of independently driven main and auxiliary winches utilizing 28 mm diameter non-rotating wire ropes. Both winches can operate synchronously when handling large loads. The luffing systems employ twin-drum arrangements with built-in reducers and normally closed disc brakes, ensuring reliable and precise boom control. Slewing is accomplished through dual planetary reduction drives mounted at the front of the revolving frame, providing smooth operation and dependable performance under heavy load conditions.

The crawler undercarriage uses a high-strength box-type carbody with reinforced crawler frames and 1.5 m wide track shoes, providing excellent ground bearing characteristics and stability. Independent and synchronized crawler travel functions allow precise positioning on site. The hydraulic system employs an electro-proportional pilot-controlled variable pump system combined with variable displacement motors, giving the crane excellent micro-motion performance and highly accurate load positioning, particularly important during wind turbine erection and complex heavy lifts.

Operator comfort and safety were also major considerations in the design. The spacious cab is equipped with safety glazing, climate control, an adjustable seat, sliding door, and a cab tilting function of up to 20 degrees for improved visibility during high-boom operations. Comprehensive safety systems include a load moment limiter, boom angle protection, anti-two-block device, wind speed indicator, level indicator, hydraulic safety valves, slewing and travel alarms, lightning protection, rope over-release protection, and multiple boom backstop systems. These features help ensure safe operation across a wide range of lifting conditions.

With its 800-tonne lifting capacity, extensive superlift configurations, boom lengths reaching 168 metres, powerful Weichai engine, and dedicated wind power arrangements, the XCMG XGC12000 represents one of the most capable crawler cranes in XCMG’s portfolio. The machine was developed to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of modern heavy construction and renewable energy projects, offering the combination of lifting power, reach, and flexibility required for some of the largest lifting operations in the world.
