Potain MC 170C

The Potain MC 170C is a robust and adaptable hammerhead tower crane that delivers high performance across various construction applications. It offers a maximum lifting capacity of 8 tonnes and supports jib configurations ranging from 25 to 60 meters, in 5-meter increments. At its full 60-meter outreach, it can lift approximately 1.5 tonnes at the tip, ensuring effective coverage of large work areas.

The crane can be mounted on 1.6 m x 1.6 m or 2.0 m x 2.0 m mast systems and is compatible with a wide array of tower types, including P 16A, SB 16A, VB 20A, and P 20A, which allow a freestanding hook height up to 64.1 meters and much higher when configured with climbing setups or larger bases. The tower system’s modular design enables custom configurations to match building heights and jobsite restrictions.

The MC 170C can be equipped with two hoisting winch options: the 50 LVF 20 Optima or the 60 LVF 20. These offer hoisting speeds from 3.8 to 112 m/min and support drum capacities for up to 445 meters of rope, allowing significant lifting height. The slewing mechanism, RCV 145, operates at speeds up to 0.8 rpm, while the trolley system is capable of speeds up to 76 m/min with VFD-based drive for smooth movement and precise load control.

The crane complies with FEM 1.001-A3 standards and includes advanced operational features such as Potain’s Power Control system for adaptive motor performance based on available site power. It’s also equipped with Potain’s Smart View cab, which improves operator visibility and comfort, and is designed for optimized containerized transport using standard high cube shipping containers or flat racks.
