Product Description
The Potain MR 296 H16 represents a powerful and adaptable solution within Potain’s luffing jib crane lineup, optimized for challenging job sites where space and lifting power are critical. With a maximum load capacity of 16 tonnes and the ability to be configured with a jib up to 60 meters, this crane offers a versatile combination of reach and strength.
This model is particularly well-suited to urban environments where overhead clearance and reduced slewing radii are essential. Its variable working radii and compact out-of-service positioning help reduce site congestion, while the luffing jib configuration minimizes conflicts with nearby structures or cranes.
Equipped with Potain’s advanced Optima winch system, the MR 296 H16 can achieve high-speed hoisting operations. The crane supports winch models such as 100 LVF and 75/90 HPLTM, offering hoisting speeds up to 167 m/min and line pulls optimized for both low-load rapid cycles and high-load precision lifts. Hoisting heights exceed 500 meters, supported by 8- and 16-tonne reeving options.
The crane operates efficiently under both 400 V (50 Hz) and 480 V (60 Hz) power inputs, making it adaptable to international job sites. Slewing is driven by RVF 172 Optima+ motors, allowing for smooth and responsive rotation with accurate load placement, even in tight areas. The control systems include Power Control, which automatically adjusts winch speeds to match available power, enhancing operational efficiency without overloading the power supply.
Tower configurations for the MR 296 H16 include standard and heavy-duty mast systems, with a wide range of anchorage and climbing options, including internal and external climbing frames. The base and tower sections are designed for modularity, allowing varied freestanding heights and seamless integration with existing Potain tower components. Tower types such as K 800, K 649, and P 800B are supported, ensuring structural stability across maximum load configurations.
The crane’s counter-jib and tower-top structures are engineered to reduce erection time and transportation volume. Component weights are optimized for containerized logistics, and the crane fits within 40-foot high cube containers and 20-foot flat racks, making international shipment more efficient.
In operational terms, the MR 296 H16 can lift up to 3.2 tonnes at a 60-meter radius under full jib extension. At shorter radii, the crane lifts its full 16-tonne capacity with high precision and safety, supported by modern load moment and anti-collision systems compliant with FEM 1.001-A3 standards.
With its robust capabilities, adaptability to confined urban spaces, and advanced lifting technology, the Potain MR 296 H16 is a go-to luffing tower crane for high-rise construction, power plant assembly, and infrastructure developments where height, precision, and reach are paramount.
