Potain MC 180

The Potain MC 180 is a robust and reliable hammerhead tower crane developed by Zhangjiagang Potain, tailored for modern building construction. With a maximum lifting capacity of 10 tonnes, the MC 180 supports a maximum working radius of 60 meters, where it can still handle a tip load of 1.4 tonnes. The crane’s modular jib system allows jib configurations of 40 m, 50 m, 55 m, and 60 m, adapting to varying site requirements. At shorter jib lengths such as 40 m, the tip load increases to 3.53 tonnes, showcasing the crane’s flexibility across radius ranges.

The crane features a freestanding height under hook of 46.5 meters, extendable significantly with anchoring systems—up to 194.7 meters when using P20A anchoring towers. The tower sections can be configured with 1.6 × 1.6 m or 2 × 2 m masts, supported on 4.5 m × 6 m bases.

The hoisting system utilizes the 55 RCS 25/13 winch, delivering hoisting speeds of up to 84 m/min with 2.6-ton loads or 42 m/min with the full 10-ton load, powered by a 55 hp (40.5 kW) motor. Trolleying operations are handled by the 5 D3 V4-1 system, which provides smooth horizontal motion between 15–58 m/min, while slewing is controlled via the RCV 145, offering a rotation speed of 0.8 rpm, ensuring precise movement.

The MC 180 also supports climbing operations with internal climbing systems, and travel bases for on-site mobility. Its control system is powered through 400V/50Hz mains, and the crane requires an 80 kVA generator when site power is unavailable.

This crane offers reliable performance for high-rise building construction, offering impressive load charts, operational flexibility, and ease of integration with standard Potain tower systems.
