Product Description

The Kato KA-1200 stands as a high-capacity all-terrain crane, purpose-built for demanding lifting operations across industrial, infrastructure, and urban construction projects. With a maximum lifting capacity of 120 tons, this crane is part of Kato’s elite fleet, integrating robust lifting capability with exceptional mobility and precise control.

The crane is outfitted with a 5-section full-hydraulic telescopic boom that stretches from a minimum of 12.0 meters to a maximum of 47.0 meters. In combination with a three-stage jib that extends from 8.4 meters to 21.0 meters, the KA-1200 can achieve a maximum lifting height of 69.2 meters, particularly useful for high-rise structural work or tall installation jobs. The boom system is actuated by dual hydraulic cylinders that operate simultaneously, while the jib features a combination of hydraulic and wire extension mechanisms for stability and ease of setup. Offsetting angles for the jib range between 2° to 45°, allowing for variable lifting geometries.

The crane features a powerful Mitsubishi 6D16-T diesel engine, rated at 190 PS at 2200 rpm and offering a peak torque of 70 kgf·m at 1400 rpm. It feeds a hydraulic system with a tank capacity of 107 liters, ensuring responsive, smooth operation of hoisting, slewing, and boom extension functions. The main winch has a line pull of 7 tons, while the auxiliary winch pulls 8 tons, with hoisting speeds reaching up to 120 m/min (main) and 110 m/min (auxiliary). Hook blocks are available in 120-ton, 40-ton, and 8-ton configurations with multiple sheave options for various lifting applications.

Mounted on the KC-KA5151 carrier, the KA-1200 runs a 10×6 or 10×8 drive system and is capable of achieving a maximum road speed of 75 km/h. It uses a 5-axle configuration with a turning radius of 9.9 meters, enabling tight maneuvering in congested work zones. The carrier is powered by a Mitsubishi 8DC9 V8 engine generating 440 PS at 2200 rpm with a torque of 160 kgf·m, and it’s paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission and a secondary 2-speed auxiliary transmission.

The carrier suspension system includes hydraulic leveling to adapt to different load and ground conditions, enhancing stability. Braking systems include dual air brakes, engine exhaust brakes, and emergency systems for reliable stopping power under load.

Safety and convenience features include Kato’s ACS (Automatic Load Moment Indicator), boom angle indicators, outrigger extension sensors, overhoist protection, and a full suite of operator aids including a rearview monitor, remote control searchlight, and an AM/FM radio. The operator cab is designed for comfort and visibility, with full glass panels and ergonomic controls.

In essence, the Kato KA-1200 is a true all-terrain lifting powerhouse, combining highway mobility with off-road capability, long reach, and safety-focused operational systems. Its design supports a wide variety of applications, from industrial plant work to bridge and tower construction, making it a flagship model in Kato’s high-capacity crane range.
