Key Features & Benefits
The Kobelco CK850G is an 85 US ton hydraulic crawler crane designed for reliable performance and versatility across a range of lifting applications. With a maximum lifting capacity of 170,000 lbs at a 10 ft radius using a 40 ft boom, this crane provides ample power for mid-sized heavy lifting jobs in construction, infrastructure, and industrial settings.
The main boom is a pin-connected lattice structure made from high-tensile tubular steel. It can be configured from 40 ft up to 200 ft, and when paired with a fixed jib of up to 60 ft, the crane reaches a combined boom and jib length of 240 ft. This flexibility allows the CK850G to be adapted for a wide variety of site conditions and lift requirements.
Power comes from a fuel-efficient Hino J08E-UV diesel engine, rated at 285 horsepower. It meets Tier 4 interim emissions standards and is designed for long hours of operation with a 106-gallon fuel tank. Kobelco’s G-mode system supports eco-friendly operation with functions like auto-idle stop and energy-saving winch modes, helping to reduce fuel consumption and emissions on site.
The hydraulic system is designed for smooth multi-function operation, using variable displacement piston pumps with a high-pressure capacity of 4,626 psi. Both the front and rear winches provide strong line pull performance with rated speeds up to 390 feet per minute, and an optional third winch adds even more flexibility for complex lifts.
The undercarriage is equipped with wide 36-inch crawler shoes and a hydraulic track adjustment system that allows the crane to be transported easily and assembled quickly on site. Travel speeds range from 0.72 to 1.1 mph, and the machine handles grades up to 40%, making it suitable for uneven terrain.
Inside the operator’s cab, comfort and control are priorities. The cabin is air-conditioned and features a large 12-inch touchscreen monitor for machine status, diagnostics, and load data. Controls are intuitive, and the cab offers excellent visibility and ergonomics for long workdays. Safety features include a full load moment indicator, anti-two block, swing limiters, and data logging systems.
Transport and assembly are simplified with a self-removable counterweight system. The upper and lower counterweights combine for a total of 57,600 lbs, with an additional 14,400 lbs in the carbody. This modular system ensures efficient mobilization and setup between job sites.
In summary, the Kobelco CK850G offers a strong balance of lifting capacity, transport efficiency, and operator-focused features. Its long boom reach, advanced hydraulic controls, and eco-friendly engine make it a dependable choice for contractors looking for performance and versatility in a crawler crane.
