Kobelco SL4500G

The Kobelco SL4500G represents the pinnacle of Kobelco’s crawler crane engineering, delivering a maximum lifting capacity of 400 metric tons at 5.5 meters. Designed with versatility and power in mind, this crawler crane supports a wide range of boom and jib configurations to adapt to complex lifting tasks. The standard luffing boom stretches from 24 to 78 meters, while the long boom can extend up to 96 meters. The luffing jib combinations are equally impressive, supporting up to 66 + 66 meters in the standard configuration, 72 + 66 meters in the Heavy Lift (HL) mode, and up to 78 + 66 meters in the Super Heavy Lift (SHL) configuration.

Powering this colossal crane is a Hino E13C-VV diesel engine delivering 330 kW at 1,800 rpm, compliant with NRMM (Europe) Stage IIIB and US EPA Interim Tier 4 emission standards. Its hydraulic system includes seven variable displacement piston pumps operating winches, swing, boom, jib, and other vital crane functions with a maximum hydraulic pressure of 32.0 MPa and a reservoir capacity of 710 liters. The hoisting system employs large double-drum winches with a line pull capacity of 132 kN and line speeds up to 110 m/min.

Its swing system provides 360° rotation powered through a triple planetary gear reduction system with a swing speed of 1.2 rpm. The crane’s travel mechanism supports speeds up to 1.0 km/h with excellent ground pressure distribution (173 kPa), suitable for rugged and soft terrains. Designed for ease of transport and assembly, the crane features quick disconnect crawler assemblies and an efficient counterweight system (160-ton counterweight, 51-ton carbody weight, and 20-ton crawler weight).

The SL4500G’s cab is ergonomically designed, offering all-round visibility, air conditioning, tilting capability, and advanced control levers, ensuring both comfort and precision for the operator during prolonged operation periods. This crane is ideally suited for infrastructure megaprojects, power plants, shipyards, and other demanding industrial lifting tasks where stability, reach, and brute strength are paramount.
