Product Description
The Link-Belt 248 HSL is a 200 US ton (181.4 metric ton) lattice boom crawler crane designed for tough lifting applications across construction, infrastructure, and energy sectors. It offers a wide range of boom and jib configurations to suit various job requirements. The main boom can be extended from 55 feet up to 285 feet using modular extensions, and it can be combined with a 30 to 100-foot fixed jib or an 80 to 180-foot luffing jib, achieving a maximum tip height of 347 feet. A 5-foot auxiliary tip extension is also available for improved clearance when using multiple hoist lines. The crane is powered by a Cummins QSB6.7 Tier 4 Final diesel engine that delivers 270 horsepower and up to 730 ft-lb of torque, offering strong and efficient performance. Its hydraulic system includes multiple variable displacement pumps, enabling simultaneous and precise operation of all crane functions, including hoisting, slewing, and travel.
The 248 HSL features high-performance front and rear hoist drums with electronic rotation indicators, optional free-fall, and a strong line pull of up to 46,900 lbs. The boom hoist is equally capable, supporting self-assembly and lifting of maximum boom and jib lengths without the need for auxiliary cranes. Swing performance is managed with a two-speed hydraulic system, offering a slewing speed of up to 1.7 rpm with positive braking. Travel is smooth and precise, with individually driven crawler tracks providing counter-rotation and gradeability up to 30%, while maintaining a maximum travel speed of 1 mph.
The crane’s counterweight system includes up to 137,840 lbs on the upper deck in modular slabs and an additional 35,300 lbs on the lower carbody, allowing flexible transport and efficient rigging. Operator comfort is prioritized in the fully enclosed cab, which comes equipped with air conditioning, heating, ergonomic controls, an adjustable seat, and visibility aids like load indicators and anti-two-block warning systems. With a ground bearing pressure of approximately 10.73 psi in full lifting configuration, the 248 HSL is engineered to work on a wide range of terrain while maintaining stability and safety. This crawler crane combines heavy-lifting power with ease of transport, setup, and operation, making it a reliable choice for contractors handling complex, high-demand lifting projects.
