Product Description
The Manitowoc 12000 crawler crane is a robust, mid-capacity lifting machine designed for high performance in civil, industrial, and infrastructure applications. With a maximum rated capacity of 120 tons (109 metric tons), this crane combines Manitowoc’s heritage of reliable mechanical design with modern lifting technology.
Its lattice boom system offers great reach and flexibility, with a maximum main boom length of 70.1 meters (230 feet) and a maximum fixed jib length of 21.3 meters (70 feet). When configured with both boom and jib, the crane achieves a maximum tip height of 87.2 meters (286 feet). This versatility allows the 12000 to adapt to varied lifting tasks, including those with height and outreach constraints.
The crane is powered by a Cummins QSM11 diesel engine, delivering 298 kW (400 hp), and paired with a hydraulic power system that drives its winches, swing, and boom hoist mechanisms. The winches provide a line pull of 19,505 kg (43,000 lbs) and support fast line speeds for efficient load handling. All crane functions are managed through an intuitive control system with dual-axis joystick controls and load moment indicators to enhance operator awareness and safety.
The crawler undercarriage provides strong stability and excellent mobility across rough terrain. It is equipped with hydraulically retractable side frames to simplify transport and setup. The upperworks and boom components are modular, allowing for fast erection and disassembly, which is essential for jobsite flexibility and reduced downtime.
The Manitowoc 12000 is built with operator comfort and efficiency in mind. The cab includes ergonomic seating, large windows for visibility, and full climate control. Electronic monitoring and safety interlocks provide real-time data and automatic safeguards during operation.
As a well-balanced crawler crane in the 120-ton class, the Manitowoc 12000 is widely used in bridge building, foundation work, industrial plants, and other projects where strong lifting power and practical configuration are required. Its blend of reach, capacity, and efficient transport features make it a dependable choice for contractors worldwide.
