Product Description
The CH50 by Ruston-Bucyrus is a robust hydraulic crawler crane developed for high-performance lifting and excavation tasks. With a rated capacity of 50 tonnes under British Standard BS1757 (1986), this machine features a main boom constructed to handle up to 51 meters in length, enabling heavy lifts at extended radii. The main boom can be configured with reeving from 1 to 8 parts of line, with maximum rated loads ranging from 6.25 to 50 tonnes depending on the configuration.
Its high-efficiency hydraulic system utilizes load-sensing, variable displacement pumps, enabling ultra-fine load control and excellent fuel economy. The main, boom, and optional third drums are powered independently by radial piston or bent-axis motors and use spring-set, hydraulically released brakes. The main and fly hoist drums support a 22 mm rope, generating a line pull of up to 12 tonnes at speeds of up to 86 meters per minute.
The crane is powered by a Cummins 6BTA 6-cylinder water-cooled diesel engine rated at 126 kW (169 hp) at 2100 rpm. The fuel tank capacity is either 300 or 700 liters depending on specification, and the hydraulic reservoir holds 250 liters.
Swing control is finely managed through a micro swing system, allowing precise motion via electronically controlled hydraulics, and includes a standard swing lock for operational safety. The undercarriage is equipped with long and wide crawlers (5770 mm long with 4320 mm extended width), powered independently by hydraulic motors and gearboxes, ensuring high stability and maneuverability.
The operator cab is fully enclosed and ergonomically designed with noise and vibration insulation. Controls are joystick-based with visible and audible alerts for abnormal operations. For lifting operations, the crane is compliant with BSS and ISO standards, ensuring safe performance with clearly defined load limits. Fly jib options of 6 m, 12 m, and 18 m are available, with load deductions detailed for each configuration.
Overall, the CH50 offers durable performance, safety-oriented design, and adaptability, making it well-suited for complex construction or excavation environments.
