Product Description
The Tadano TR-400E is a high-performance 40-ton class rough terrain crane that integrates robust lifting capacity with field-proven operational flexibility. It features a 4-section hexagonal boom that extends hydraulically from 10.3 to 32.5 meters. This revolutionary boom design enhances flexural and torsional rigidity while minimizing weight, enabling a wide elevation range from -3° to 80° to handle a broad scope of lifting conditions. Swingaround extensions further extend its reach up to 41.7 meters when including the two-stage jib option (9.8/17.1 m).
Equipped with a 180 PS 4-stroke diesel engine and heavy-duty torque converter transmission, the TR-400E offers six forward and reverse speeds. Its three-mode steering system—two-wheel, four-wheel crab, and four-wheel coordinated—provides exceptional maneuverability, with a minimum turning radius of only 6.5 meters. The crane rides on rugged large-diameter tyres built for traction and stability on difficult terrain.
Winching operations are supported by Tadano’s intelligent winch speed control system, adapting hoisting speed to match load conditions for smoother, safer lifts. Both main and auxiliary hoists utilize hydraulic motors with wet disc brakes and counterbalance valves for precision and control.
The TR-400E’s cab is designed with the operator in mind, featuring full vision panels, ergonomic controls, bright monitor lamps, and comfort amenities like heating and adjustable seating. Safety is ensured through systems such as the Tadano Automatic Moment Limiter (AML), a hook load meter, overhoist cut-outs, and wide-span outriggers with sight level gauges. This model is also fitted with an “on-rubber” mode for pick-and-carry operation, locking the boom in a retracted position for increased stability during transport.
Altogether, the TR-400E is a solid choice for high-demand lifting in confined or rugged job sites, where flexibility, lifting strength, and ease of control are critical.
