Product Description

The Terex RT 175 rough terrain crane delivers a high-performance lifting solution within the 75-ton class, combining a long boom reach with mobility and efficient jobsite setup. The full-power boom stretches from 40 feet to 126 feet (12.2 to 38.4 meters) through four hydraulically telescoping sections, capable of smooth, synchronized retraction and extension. The boom uses non-metallic main and idler sheaves, while a mechanical boom angle indicator aids operator awareness.

This crane is capable of reaching a tip height of 193 feet (58.8 meters) when equipped with the optional swingaway jib extension. Offset mechanisms allow the jib to be set at either 17° or 30° from the main boom for extended reach versatility. The boom hoist employs two double-acting cylinders for elevation from -2° to 78°, ensuring precise boom positioning even at low radii.

The RT 175 is equipped with a powerful winch system designed for demanding lifting operations. Its 2080C main winch features a bent-axis piston motor and planetary gearing, with automatic multi-disc braking, infinite variable speed, and a drum rotation indicator. The main hoist drum carries 690 feet (210 meters) of 3/4-inch (19 mm) wire rope and delivers a maximum line pull of 22,410 lb (10,165 kg) on the first layer. Maximum rope speed reaches 134 fpm (41 m/min) in high gear. An optional auxiliary winch mirrors the main winch specifications for dual-line operations or special attachments.

Powering the crane is a hydraulic system with tandem gear pumps generating 140 gpm (530 lpm), controlled via a 20-micron pressure line filter and a 10-micron return line filter. The oil reservoir holds 177 gallons (670 liters), ensuring smooth multi-function operation under pressure loads up to 3,000 psi.

The all-weather operator cab is built from steel with tinted safety glass, and it includes adjustable suspension seating, armrest-integrated controls, and ergonomic layouts for all major functions. Comfort features include a heater, defroster, and optional air conditioning, while instrumentation covers engine status, hydraulics, fuel, and electrical systems.

For stability, the crane is fitted with four independently controlled hydraulic outriggers offering three positions, extending to 23 feet 1 inch (7.04 meters) for maximum base width. The undercarriage includes a 15,200 lb (6,895 kg) bolt-on counterweight, 21-foot² (1.95 m²) outrigger floats, and four steering modes—crab, coordinated, front-only, and rear-only—to enhance maneuverability in confined sites.

With a compact turning radius of 20 feet 9 inches (6.3 meters) and 23.5×25-28PR rock tread tires, the RT 175 can handle uneven or off-road surfaces efficiently. The swing system allows 360° continuous rotation at 2.1 rpm, governed by a foot pedal with a spring-applied, hydraulically released swing brake.

The Terex RT 175 delivers a balanced package of lifting strength, reach, mobility, and operator comfort, making it ideal for general construction, plant maintenance, and heavy lifting in challenging terrain.
