The Potain MCT 185 J8 flat top tower crane is designed to meet the needs of contemporary construction sites with a focus on efficiency, adaptability, and performance. This crane has a maximum load capacity of 8 tonnes and supports jib configurations up to 65 meters, delivering a tip load of approximately 1.5 tonnes. Its modular jib can be tailored in 5-meter increments, allowing contractors to optimize crane coverage for specific site layouts.

The MCT 185 J8 can be mounted on 1.6 m x 1.6 m or 2.0 m x 2.0 m tower systems such as P 16A, P 20A, SB 16A, and VB 20A. These configurations provide freestanding hook heights ranging from 45.6 to 61.3 meters, depending on the chosen tower base. It can also be set up with climbing configurations for taller buildings. The mast sections are engineered for modularity and durability while enabling simplified on-site erection.

For hoisting, this crane supports three winch options: 40 LVFC 20, 50 LVF 20, and 60 LVFC 20 Optima, with maximum lifting speeds reaching up to 121 meters per minute and rope capacities ranging from 363 to 553 meters. The slewing system, powered by the RVF 152 Optima+ mechanism, provides smooth and controlled 360-degree movement with speeds up to 0.79 rpm. Trolleying systems are configured to provide precise load placement, particularly useful in tight urban spaces.

Potain’s Power Control system is also included, allowing adaptive motor performance based on the power supply, thus improving energy management and reducing operational downtime. Components such as counter-jib, tower head, and cab are designed for ease of transport, with all major parts fitting into standard 40-foot high cube containers.
