Product Description

The Potain MC 175B, part of the renowned MC series, is engineered for medium-scale construction sites where strength and precision are vital. It boasts a maximum lifting capacity of 8 tonnes and a maximum jib length of 60 meters, with a tip load of 1.4 tonnes at full reach. At intermediate distances, it handles 4 tonnes at 40 meters and 6.7 tonnes at 25 meters, highlighting its consistent lifting strength across various radii.

This crane uses the 1.6 m x 1.6 m mast system, with modular tower options including the S 46 J and L 46 A1, enabling free-standing heights up to 61.3 meters. It supports climbing applications with internal building anchoring, reaching working heights beyond 176 meters when properly configured with the SB 16A base and anchoring systems like the BA 45A.

The slewing mechanism is powered by a dual RCV 145 motor setup, offering rotation speeds up to 0.8 rpm. Lifting operations are driven by either the 45 RCS or 50 LVF winch, delivering lifting speeds up to 112 m/min for lighter loads (with 50 LVF). These winches support multiple reeving arrangements to optimize lifting speed or power as needed. Trolley travel is controlled via a 5 D3 V4 drive with speeds from 15 to 58 m/min depending on load and control mode.

Counter-jib ballast varies by jib length, ranging from 12.6 tonnes at 25 meters to 18.3 tonnes at 60 meters, using standardized concrete counterweights (CD 3450 kg and CE 2250 kg). The crane is typically powered via a 400 V / 50 Hz or 480 V / 60 Hz electrical supply, requiring 50–56 kVA depending on the motor package. Base ballast weights range up to 102 tonnes for freestanding configurations using the P16A base, ensuring stability under full load.

The MC 175B is also transport-friendly and designed for ease of erection and dismantling. Its tower sections, jib parts, and cab are modular and manageable for standard trailers and high-cube containers. The Smartview cab is spacious and ergonomically designed, ensuring operator comfort and visibility even in tight job sites.

Overall, the Potain MC 175B blends classic hammerhead design with modern mechanical efficiency, making it a dependable choice for developers working on residential towers, commercial buildings, and civil infrastructure. Its combination of performance, modularity, and control precision places it as a staple in Potain’s mid-capacity tower crane fleet.
