Product Description
The Demag AC 395 is a powerful 120-ton capacity all-terrain crane engineered to provide exceptional performance in a variety of lifting scenarios. Its robust design incorporates a 44-meter main boom with five telescopic sections, fabricated from high-strength fine grain structural steel. The boom system is enhanced with partial load telescoping capabilities and a buckling-resistant Demag ovaloid design, ensuring reliable performance under different load conditions. Optional extensions include a side-folding 1- or 2-part jib, which can extend the reach by 30.2 ft, 55.9 ft, or up to 72.2 ft, with offsets of 0°, 20°, and 40°.
The AC 395 is powered by a Mercedes Benz OM 442 LA water-cooled, 8-cylinder engine that delivers 370 kW (503 hp) at 2100 rpm and a maximum torque of 2020 Nm between 1100 to 1600 rpm. The engine complies with Euro I emission standards, emphasizing its reliable performance. The crane’s fuel capacity of 132 gallons allows for extended operation times, reducing the need for frequent refueling. It features a ZF Transmatik transmission system with 14 speed ranges, coupled with a transfer case and longitudinal differential lockout, offering smooth and responsive driving over various terrains.
This crane is built on a robust 10-wheel (6x8x8) chassis, with the first axle steering, the second and fifth axles featuring planetary hubs and steering, while the third axle is rigid, and the fourth is also equipped with planetary hubs for enhanced stability and control. The hydropneumatic suspension system ensures that all axles can be hydraulically blocked, providing additional stability during lifting operations. The crane rides on 14.00 R 25 tires, with single wheels on all axles, optimizing its maneuverability on different surfaces.
Safety and control are at the forefront of the AC 395’s design. The braking system features a dual-line air system with sustained action brakes, spring-loaded parking brakes, and additional components like exhaust brakes and a hydraulic retarder for controlled deceleration. The steering is managed by a ZF dual-circuit semiblock mechanical system with hydraulic boosters, allowing precise movements, which are crucial in tight or congested job sites.
The crane’s superstructure is driven by a Mercedes Benz OM 366 A water-cooled 6-cylinder engine, producing 112 kW (150 hp) at 2200 rpm. The hydraulic system comprises a variable displacement axial piston pump and a fixed displacement pump, enabling the operation of up to four independent crane movements simultaneously. This advanced system provides smooth, efficient, and precise control of lifting and slewing operations.
The operator’s cab is spacious, featuring safety glazing, sliding windows, and comprehensive controls, including digital displays for load monitoring, boom angles, and other vital statistics. The cab is equipped with heating and optional engine-dependent or self-contained preheating systems, allowing comfortable operation in various weather conditions. Additional amenities such as programmable timers, air conditioning, and adjustable seating ensure that operators can work comfortably during long shifts.
Optional equipment for the Demag AC 395 includes various counterweight configurations up to 44,000 lb, additional heavy-lift attachments, and auxiliary hoists for enhanced lifting flexibility. The crane can also be fitted with wider tires (16.00 R 25 or 20.5 R 25) to improve its adaptability on different terrains. Furthermore, a D-value 26,400 lb air-brake connection is available for those requiring towing capabilities.
In summary, the Demag AC 395 all-terrain crane is a versatile and reliable piece of equipment designed for both straightforward and complex lifting tasks. Its combination of strong performance, advanced safety features, and operator-focused design makes it an excellent choice for construction, industrial maintenance, and other heavy-duty applications. Its robust engineering ensures that it can handle a variety of terrains and lifting scenarios while maintaining safety, precision, and efficiency.
