Product Description
The Kato KA-1300R is a modern all-terrain crane engineered for robust lifting capabilities in both urban and off-road environments. It is rated at a maximum lifting capacity of 130 metric tons and features a 5-axle carrier design that offers a balance of mobility, road compliance, and operational strength. This crane is particularly well-suited for infrastructure, industrial construction, and utility work where both reach and agility are required.
The crane is equipped with a fully hydraulic 5-section main boom that extends from 13.2 meters up to a full 60.0 meters. The boom sections are telescoped using Kato’s automatic synchronized telescoping system, ensuring efficient and safe boom operation under load. For greater working height and reach, the crane supports an optional two-stage fly jib, hydraulically luffing between 5.8 to 33.5 meters. The maximum boom plus jib configuration provides a hook height of approximately 94 meters, ideal for multi-story building projects and equipment erection.
The KA-1300R is powered by two Mercedes-Benz engines: the carrier uses the OM502LA—a V8 diesel engine producing 420 kW (571 PS), while the upper structure is driven by the OM924LA, a 4-cylinder diesel engine delivering 130 kW (177 PS). These engines comply with Japan’s off-road emission regulations and are optimized for fuel efficiency, low noise, and reliable torque output during lifting and travel operations.
Travel is handled by a 10×6 or 10×8 all-wheel drive system with four steering axles, giving the KA-1300R excellent maneuverability on confined or uneven sites. The crane has a top travel speed of 85 km/h on public roads and includes advanced suspension and braking systems to support both highway speeds and site-specific movement. The turning radius and multiple steering modes allow precision navigation in tight urban job sites.
Operational control is centered around a modern cab featuring Kato’s ACS (Automatic Crane System) that integrates moment limiting, outrigger positioning, boom/jib angles, and real-time load data. The system improves safety, reduces operational risk, and allows more efficient job planning. The cab itself is designed with panoramic visibility, adjustable seating, and climate control to support long-hour shifts in diverse weather conditions.
The outrigger system includes four hydraulically extendable beams with sliding pads to provide maximum ground contact and crane stability. Outriggers are adjustable for asymmetric setup using the ACS system, enhancing usability in restricted workspaces.
In terms of transportability, the crane is designed with modular counterweights and can be stripped down to comply with axle load regulations for efficient deployment between job sites.
The Kato KA-1300R exemplifies a new generation of mid-capacity all-terrain cranes, combining class-leading boom reach, dual-engine power, and intelligent operational support—all within a compact, road-legal carrier. It is a well-rounded solution for mid-rise construction, plant maintenance, and precision lift environments where reliability and setup speed are paramount.
