Product Description
Debuting as one of Tadano’s largest-capacity mobile cranes, the AR-5500M showcases engineering tailored for high-capacity lifting with road mobility. The crane is built on a robust FAUN RTF600-7 chassis, boasting a 14×4 drive system with 12×8 traction, and features hydraulic pneumatic suspension for excellent maneuverability across diverse jobsite terrains. With a gross vehicle weight of approximately 50,790 kg and an overall carrier length of 15,980 mm, it achieves a top road speed of 62 km/h and a turning radius of 11.9 meters.
The AR-5500M’s main boom extends from 14.5 m to 30.5 m and offers a maximum lifting capacity of 550 tonnes at a 3.0 m radius. Complementing the main boom is a fixed boom (12.5 m x 2), a telescopic boom ranging from 14.1 m to 32.5 m, and optional luffing jibs ranging from 18 m to 81 m. This configuration provides a maximum lifting height of up to 134 m and a working radius reaching 105 m when using the luffing jib. The crane features a hydraulic boom elevation range of -1° to 82°, elevated in 220 seconds via three double-acting cylinders.
Hoisting power is delivered through high-speed main and auxiliary winches capable of 150 m/min (single line, 5th layer). Both winches utilize anti-rotate 25 mm x 705 m wire rope. The crane includes multiple hook blocks from 12.5 t (1-part line) to 300 t (30-part line) and a single top sheave with pin-mounted installation.
Powering the crane upper is a Nissan Diesel RF804 V8 engine with a displacement of 16.99 liters, producing 270 PS (198 kW) at 1,700 rpm and a torque of 1,050 Nm at 1,400 rpm. It feeds into a hydraulic system composed of two variable piston pumps and two gear pumps, supporting all crane functions. The upper hydraulic oil tank holds 2,710 liters, and the upper fuel tank capacity is 300 liters.
Advanced safety systems are integral to the AR-5500M, including Tadano’s AML (Automatic Moment Limiter), outrigger extension detectors, swing limiters, hydraulic locks, winch drum locks, and overload cut-out devices. The crane also includes modern operator conveniences such as air conditioning, lunch tables, FM radios, and back monitors. All these features make the AR-5500M a formidable machine for lifting the heaviest loads with precision and reliability.
