Product Description

The Tadano ATF 50-3 was developed as a high-capacity, compact all-terrain crane, engineered for dynamic applications on both urban and remote job sites. Its robust design centers on a torsion and bend-resistant box-type frame. Equipped with a full hydraulic four-point outrigger system, the crane offers exceptional stability. These outriggers are controlled either from the upper cab or from both sides of the chassis, offering maximum flexibility during setup.

Under the hood, the ATF 50-3 runs on a EURO 1 Mercedes-Benz OM 441 LA water-cooled diesel engine, delivering 250 kW (340 HP) at 2100 rpm and 1450 Nm torque at 1200 rpm. This is paired with a ZF powershift transmission featuring a torque converter and lock-up clutch, with six forward and one reverse gear. A 6×6 drivetrain configuration ensures excellent off-road traction, with an option for 6×2 mode for road travel. Its hydro-pneumatic suspension is hydraulically lockable and equipped with leveling adjustment.

Steering is achieved through a dual-circuit semi-block hydraulic system. The front two axles are mechanically steered, while the crane cab allows hydrostatic steering on all three axles, including emergency steering functionality.

The crane’s main boom consists of one base section and four hydraulically telescoping sections, offering a maximum boom length of 38.6 meters. This boom can telescope under partial load and is complemented by optional extensions, including a two-stage telescopic boom extension of 9.0 m or 16.0 m, which can be offset at 5°, 17°, or 30° for increased flexibility and reach. With these attachments, the maximum tip height extends significantly, accommodating a wide range of lifting scenarios.

A 5.6-ton counterweight is standard, with an optional 10.2-ton setup available, which is hydraulically mounted from the cab. The main winch is powered by an axial piston motor with integrated planetary gear and a spring-loaded multiple disc holding brake. It allows line speeds up to 130 m/min and a maximum single-line pull of 52 kN using a 16 mm rope. Slewing is achieved through a constant motor with a planetary gearbox and foot-operated brake system, offering stepless rotation speeds of up to 2.5 rpm.

Operator comfort is emphasized in both the driving and crane cabs. The driver’s cab features a panoramic view with safety glass, an adjustable hydraulically cushioned seat, and a heater. The crane operator’s cab, located on the left side of the superstructure, is constructed from all steel, with similar comfort and visibility enhancements, including an independent hot-air heating system.

For safety, the crane is equipped with multiple safeguards including hydraulic check valves, a main winch limit switch, a drum turn indicator, and an electronic load moment indicator with anti-two block protection.

This crane’s balance of high lifting performance, terrain adaptability, and ease of transport make it a popular choice for contractors operating in mixed-use environments.
