Product Description

The XCMG QUY500W crawler crane stands out in the upper echelon of high-capacity lifting equipment. With a maximum rated lifting capacity of 500 tonnes and a maximum load moment of 2,700 tonne-meters, it is designed for demanding tasks such as lifting large prefabricated components or installing utility-scale wind turbines. It features a robust heavy-duty boom structure that can be extended from 24 to 84 meters, while a 12-meter special jib further enhances versatility in extended reach or tilting operations.

The QUY500W offers two working modes: a standard mode supporting 500-ton lifts and a reinforced or strengthened mode, which increases the special jib capacity from 95 to 105 tonnes. The special jib is purpose-built for enhanced performance at higher boom angles and longer reaches, particularly valuable in wind energy and industrial plant installation. Boom elevation is highly adjustable, ranging from -3° to 85°, offering broad flexibility across job types.

The crane is powered by a 383 kW Volvo diesel engine (TWD1240VE) that is water-cooled, turbocharged, and emission-compliant with European Stage IIIA standards. This efficient engine supports operations with low fuel consumption, minimal emissions, and high torque, ensuring long-term durability and reliability in the field.

Speed and control performance are enhanced by its hydraulic and winch systems. The main winch delivers a single line speed of 130 m/min at the fifth layer, while the boom elevating mechanism offers dual rope lines with speeds of 2×50 m/min at the first layer. The slewing speed is 1.0 r/min, and the crane can travel at up to 0.95 km/h, supported by a 30% gradeability, making it suitable for uneven terrain and complex construction environments.

Supporting these heavy operations is a robust counterweight system. It comprises 160 tonnes of turntable counterweight, 250 tonnes of superlift counterweight, and 95 tonnes of carbody counterweight, collectively ensuring stability and safety even at full load. The total machine weight in a 24-meter boom with 500-ton hook configuration is 415 tonnes, and the maximum single unit travel configuration mass is 60 tonnes, making transport logistics manageable for a crane of this scale.

For added reliability and operational safety, the QUY500W includes a suite of integrated monitoring and protection features. These include load moment limiters, boom angle sensors, winch over-wind and over-release protections, and a PLC-based electronic control system. The crane also has video surveillance, wind speed anemometers, emergency stop functions, and visual alarms using tri-color lamps to alert operators of lifting thresholds.

From an ergonomic perspective, the operator’s cabin is fully enclosed with safety glass, air conditioning, and an adjustable seat. A tilting cab mechanism improves upward visibility when working at high boom angles. Additional conveniences include lighting systems, a CD player, and a four-camera monitoring system for winch, boom, and slewing operations.

Built with a modular boom structure utilizing high-strength steel, the QUY500W supports both standard heavy boom working conditions and SL (superlift) mode with special jib configurations, enhancing its deployment range across heavy-duty construction, bridge lifting, petrochemical, and offshore projects.

In summary, the XCMG QUY500W represents a versatile and robust solution in the 500-ton class, offering a well-balanced mix of lifting power, adaptability, and operational safety, engineered for modern heavy-duty lifting demands with a forward-looking focus on wind energy and high-rise construction applications.
