Product Description

The XCMG XGC650 represents a refined evolution of XCMG’s proven QUY650 crawler crane, a model that earned a reputation through its contributions to major petrochemical and industrial construction projects. With continued development and upgrades, the XGC650 has emerged as a core player in the lifting of modern 3MW wind turbines, especially in China’s onshore wind energy boom.

At its core, the XGC650 delivers a maximum rated lifting capacity of 650 tonnes and a maximum load moment of 7,848 tonne-meters, underlining its strength in handling ultra-heavy and complex loads. The crane supports both heavy and light boom configurations, with the main boom length stretching from 24 to 108 meters for heavy boom, and 66 to 138 meters for light boom configurations. A tower jib can be extended from 24 to 96 meters, and a 12-meter special jib is available to meet extended reach or high-angle operation demands.

Boom elevation ranges from -3° to 85°, providing an adaptable working envelope for varied jobsite requirements—from vertical lifts on wind turbine towers to angular positioning in modular construction sites.

The crane’s hoisting system offers precise and responsive operation. The main hoist delivers a single line speed of 130 m/min, while the boom elevating system provides dual-line speeds of 2×56 m/min. For tower jib and superlift luffing operations, the speeds are 100 m/min and 120 m/min respectively. This ensures rapid yet controlled boom elevation and load handling under heavy-duty operations.

In terms of mobility and drivability, the XGC650 travels at up to 1.0 km/h, with a maximum slewing speed of 0.7 r/min and gradeability up to 30%, ensuring it can navigate moderately inclined or uneven jobsite terrain. Ground pressure is distributed efficiently with an average pressure rating of 0.146 MPa, maintaining a balanced footprint even with heavy loads.

The XGC650 is powered by a Mercedes-Benz OM502LA engine, delivering 420 kW of power, meeting China’s Tier III emission standards. This engine is widely recognized for its torque performance, efficiency, and long-term durability, making it a reliable choice for continuous lifting cycles in harsh environments.

Transportability and modularization are thoughtfully addressed in the XGC650’s design. The maximum transport unit mass in travel configuration is 71 tonnes, and the largest dimension of a transport unit (main body) measures 12.3 meters long, 3.3 meters wide, and 3.4 meters high, allowing for relatively straightforward logistics despite the machine’s scale.

The crane is also fitted with essential superlift capabilities and a 30-ton rated auxiliary luffing boom, further supporting its role in complex operations such as high-altitude turbine tower erection, bridge component installation, and heavy module lifting in power plant construction.

In summary, the XCMG XGC650 is a thoroughly engineered solution for today’s heavy lifting challenges. Its lineage from the proven QUY650, combined with its enhanced boom reach, lifting strength, and efficient transport design, make it a trusted choice for demanding applications in wind power, petrochemical, infrastructure, and energy industries. As the trend toward larger wind turbines and heavier prefabricated components continues, the XGC650 is well-positioned to meet those future-oriented demands with strength, safety, and efficiency.
